Foligno is the Blue Jacket that's stood out to me so far. Has more skill than I guess I gave him credit for. Might be someone to watch tonight.

I forgot they acquired him. I like him for the same reason I like Dubinsky.

How did they end up with him? That wasn't the Leclaire trade was it?

Keep an eye on Johansen as well. He's been surpassing expectations (unlike Brassard and Umberger).

Oh that was confusing the way I worded. I was only referring to Foligno. Dubinsky I knew was a piece of the Nash trade. I thought they received a surprisingly nice package considering the terrible circumstance they were in. Anisimov and Erixon could be good future pieces for those guys.

I hope it stays that way when Roy returns. I get there is solid reasoning to play Whitney with Benn, but I've been wanting to see Eriksson-Benn-Jagr since the signing was announced.

Thanks to center ice, I've never had to lower myself to watching the stinking Blue Jackets.

Man ... I didn't realize the BJ's have allowed 18 goals in the first 5 games. I haven't watched any games for them yet ... is it goaltending still? IIRC, Bobrovsky wasn't their first choice, but he seems to have a respectable Save% right now (0.913).

No telling.

The only confirmation I've seen today is Heika mentioned Morrow will still get #1 PP time as the net presence. The rest is a total guess.

Morrow-Benn-Jagr
Golisgoski-Robidas

Eriksson-Whitney-Ryder
Benn-Daley

Wow just when you think he can't say anything dumber he goes with this gem? Reilly hasn't had the best of luck. He's had some chances and been all over the lineup with a variety of players and hasn't been outstanding but scratch him so he can watch? Are you kidding me?

Gulutzan's decision making is beyond bizarre. Just like Jon Daniels with Ron Washington, Joe N can't continue to hide behind "well he's the coach and I'm not going to make coaching decisions." If you don't agree with your coach's decisions he's got to step in. This isn't how you develop young players and build confidence in them. Unbelievable.

because it's absolutely inconceivable that there's a small nuance that smith isn't picking up on? look, i agree, he's looked really dangerous so far, and hasn't caught a break, but at the same time, he's not exactly putting up points. it's a results based business. either way, sometimes it's good to pay a little now by sitting him a game, if it means he will get that one aspect that pushes his game that much further.

If you treat prospects as if they're failing in a "results based business" you're never going to develop anyone. With prospects it should be a "process based business". Jerking R. Smith around the lineup from the bottom-6, to the top-6, to the PK, to the PP, to the press box etc. is just going to make the kid's head spin.

He has more scoring chances playing basically 4th line minutes most of the season (minus last game), than Morrow/Fiddler/Nystrom/Garbutt combined in the first five games.

The decision to sit him has absolutely nothing to do with how he has actually played.

I wouldn't lump Nystrom or Garbutt in there, they've both been quite good. Nystrom's playing with some fire, honestly.

You're talking about film study, and they already do that.

Sweet, Benn is a go..finally. Although with our luck we'll find out he somehow re-grew his appendix and will get appendicitis again..

Lump in with what? Just using the example of our bottom 6. Guess I should've included Wandell in that as well. Not saying about their overall game, but outside of Halak mishandling of the puck behind the net and Garbutt lucking into it....none of the five have looked anywhere near as dangerous or produced as many scoring chances as Reilly has.

Nystrom's game, despite scoring 16 goals, isn't tied to putting up points. I really like how he has played this year, but I can't think of a single scoring chance that sticks out in my mind. He's had some shots, but nothing dangerous.

Smith's game is all about creating chances, and that's what he's doing. In the AHL, he started the season looking really good, but he was just not finishing. Willie trusted him, and stuck with Reilly. We all see the major improvements he made from having a coach develop a player the right way.

That's why I only want to see a guy play. I'm not going to be pissed if Smith is in the AHL. I think he belongs in the NHL, but this type of mismanagement is not acceptable IMO. You either commit to the prospects or you don't. You can't be half ass about it.
