O'Reilly remains unsigned.
Landeskog out for the game with an injury.
Downie out for the season.

I don't like where this is going for our offense.

So what about our lines then?

McGinn-Staz-Jones
Kobasew-Duchene-Parenteau
Malone-Mitchell-Hejduk
McLeod-Olver-Bordeleau

Maybe?

Patrick Bordeleau, the next great power forward. That's where this is going.

I will be (pleasantly) surprised if Landeskog misses only one game with this injury.

Put Hejduk in the top six.

I'm just afraid that the Duchene line will be too soft. Kobasew has played with lots of intensity and is good defensively.

I would hope Sacco learned from last year that no matter what, Kobasew doesn't belong anywhere near the top-6.

The Stastny line as currently comprised hasn't worked at all. Sacco should try one of those wingers (I'm assuming McGinn) on Dutchy's line and put Hejduk back with Stastny.

Jones - Stastny - Hejduk
McGinn - Duchene - Parenteau
McLeod - Mitchell - Kobasew
Bordeleau - Olver - Malone

This lineup could use some O'Reilly right about now.

Don't think that will matter against the Oilers. Hejduk is the one who should go to Duchene's line. If Landeskog is out for a period of time, it may be time to call up Sgarbossa (we are getting real thin on scoring line options), put him on Stastny's wing and move McGinn to the Duchene line.

Malone should be centering over Olver.

WWSD? (What will Sacco Do, not to be confused with What would Sakic Do)

McGinn - Stastny - Jones
Olver - Duchene - Parenteau
McLeod - Mitchell - Hejduk
Bordeleau - Malone - Kobasew

Same lines with Malone slotted in that he used when Landeskog went down last game.

Agreed, just guessing that Sacco will keep Olver at center. I'd rather see him take a 3rd line winger spot (definitely over McLeod) at least. But of course that leaves the 4th line McLeod - Malone - Bordeleau. Definitely tough, but oh man, not sure it's any good.

I blame O'Reilly, his entire line is out now because he is the greatest defensive player the game has seen in a decade.

So Landeskog has concussion?

And looks like injuries starting with this team where Avs lose a player in every game.

He never had much of a career to begin with. Just a 3rd line grinder that had 1 good season.

On the bright side, maybe Avs will finish somewhere at the bottom and get a chance at #1 pick overall

You forgot the best part... the Avs would fire Sacco at that point

They didn't fire him after 10-11.
What makes you think they'd fire him now, when he doesn't have 1/3 of his best forwards?

Exactly. The current failings of the Avalanche right now are on management and ownership, not on coaching.

Actually i have my doubts about that, unless Avs really struggle and finish dead last in west or league, i don't think they fire Sacco.

If they finish 9th or 10th, you know the management is gonna say the team did a good job and almost made the playoffs...Sacco stays.

Edit: Oh, and we all know how they going to use injuries as an excuse for missing the playoffs again.
