They never get mentioned as a possible destination but it makes sense to me. I think he'd make them a much better team and allow them to open it up a bit more offensively.
They have been mentioned quite a bit as of late.
There is already a HUGE thread to discuss this, please look at a few threads before making a new one
Calgary couldn't afford him and doesn't really need him. They have problems but goaltending isn't their biggest one.
And there is no way in heck the Canucks would ever trade him to a division rival CHEAPLY.
I fixed that.
I don't think Calgary is a Luongo away from slaughtering us, and if Calgary had the best deal in place, I'd be listening. Some manor of Iginla/Tanguay/Cammallari/Baertschi/Cervenka player to start would be what I'd want.
Won't happen, but if the Flames and Feaster buck up and out pay the rest of the league, I'm not shooting them down for something as trivial as geography. Ditto with Chicago, or Edmonton...if they want him, they pay our price or look else where, but that doesn't mean I'm opposed to doing business with them.
just asking... would the price come down when Luongo says he will never play a minute for the Nucks again and he wants to be traded within the next 48 hours?
Wouldn't happen, but we wouldn't lower our price anyway. And as I said above this post, we would have to recoup an asset that makes us as good as Luongo makes you. Not a futures heavy deal, or components added together, one big piece back our way and smaller pieces to even out the value if needed.

I'm still on board with that. Johansson or bust!
Not interested in Johansson at all. From Washington I'd be looking at John Carlson, Filip Forsberg, Evgeni Kuznetsov, 1st round pick. Some combination of that depending on which assets are coming back. Anything involving Kuznetsov would have to carry at least a conditional 1st round pick in the event he doesn't ever play a game in Vancouver.

Not at all? Now I know you're crazy
Carlson would do, Forsberg probably isn't moving, and yeah, a 1st would be excellent filler, but the Caps have a lot of active roster players I'd like too.
Chimera for our bottom six and salary back, Green (a pipe dream, don't shoot me), the aformentioned Johansson, even guys like Ward or Schultz if the rest of the package is right too.
Oh, and I hear that Ovechkin kid is being run out of town this season, what would Washington add if we took him off your hands?
I would say its even money at this point, but one would hope it's PHX... I mean that has been going on for years.
Maybe both at the same time? The Canucks could send Luongo to Phoenix, along with Paolo Aquilini who would buy the team, in exchange for Boedker, OEL and a 1?

I don't get the hype surrounding Johansson at all and think some people overrate him.
Don't really need Chimera or Ward or Schultz...we already have plenty of bottom 6ers. Mike Green wouldn't be bad.
Depends, if he says that he won't play for us there is really no consequence toward us if we let him sit. So while the value would drop, it wouldn't plummet extremely low.
If Luongo demanded a trade, I tend to think we would lighten up a bit.
.
don't think he will say it, just want to know if you think he value would drop or not.

The value that teams are offering would stay the same. It just might force Gillis to trade Luongo sooner rather than waiting for teams to meet his price.
No idea what teams are offering or what Gillis is asking for, though.
Besides Kypreos is saying he doubts Kessel re-signs in TOR. He said he thinks if Kessel was offered $8M/8years that he would take $6M somewhere else.... why not just wait & sign him in UFA without giving up the heart of our team & a player whose position we are weak at.
Vancouver regains some salary contigent on Kessel signing or something
Sedin-Sedin-Kessel

Everybody wins
Counter-offer: Kesler for Kessel and Kadri.
Kessel is a soon-to-be UFA, and Kadri hasn't proven that much due to a small sample size. Kesler is on a cap-friendly contract with a few more years left.

Swap Kadri for Grabovski and drop the 2nd and it's fair value, and makes a lot more sense for a contending team.
Not sure that I'd do it, though.
Grabovski and Kessel don't play well together, and we have no other 2nd line centers to play with Kessel, so...no thanks.
Kesler is much more valuable to the Canucks than Kessel.
Kesler is bigger, more physical, much better defensively, is a center who is good at faceoffs, and a leader. He's also signed to a pretty darn good contract until 2016.
We already have two pure offensive guys in the Sedins, we don't need to sacrifice our best defensive forward and our center depth to add more of an offensive punch.
