Trade Rumors

Tried to find an older one to bump but couldn't.

From John Hovens(The Mayor) twitter account.

@mayorNHL
#LAkings in the market for a quality defenseman. Who would you like to see them go after? And at least try to be realistic.

Any guesses?

everyone is looking for one for depth. at this point i think its just putting 'feelers' out there to know what is available, what might be available and what might be possible. meaning that as teams start to slide out of contention, which players the GMs will move. Deano is likely just scouting the terrain at this point so he has a better mental picture of what's ahead

Ya I saw that. Don't know whether to believe it or not. We'd have to give up a ton as well. I think Lombardi would be after a more defensive style player, who's probably younger too seeing as how Mitchell will be done soon, and scuderi possibly leaving this summer.

I am not sure Subban is a Sutter type player.

This morning I was listening to The Fan 590 and Jeff Blair was on with Glen Healy. They were saying the Habs are not interested in trading Subban, they want him for cheap because he is an RFA so his options are to play or to sit. If that's true, I think they're nuts. The guy is a good defenseman and a huge favourite with the fans.

Everyone seems to be looking for defensemen right now.

Subban would be awesome. Hes actually massively underrated. The guy can play vs top opposition and come out ahead consistently. He is around the level of OEL. 1 tier below the top guys. Him partnering Doughty for the next forever would be sick

You add Penner to the package to clear the cap space. Voynov would definitely be going the other way aswell

I'd like to have Subban obviously, but that wouldn't help us for next season. As it is we're really going to be pushing it and don't have much room to make quality additions. Then the next season we'll have to sign Brown, and we have 7 players signed for 37.5 million. So yeah, pushing it.

for a guy that lives in montreal and has seen a ton of habs games, i can confirm you that subban is MASSIVELY OVERRATED.

he would be a fantastic LW, but he's a terrible D

matt doesn't have the best track record when it comes to rumors. he gets very good injury info, but trades are another story. he rates right there with all the other trade rumor mongers. personally i think most just make **** up on the fly

the only guys that carry any weight when it comes to rumors for me are Bobby Mac, leBrun, Dreger and those guys. anyone else to me is just a blogger in a basement fantasizing about his dream line-up

If the Kings were to go after Subban, then Voynov and another significant piece would surely be going the other way. Not sure how much a team like the Habs would value Stoll because he is a player that they certainly could use as they seem to be rather inexperienced in their bottom six.

I doubt Subban would be dealt here. I'm thinking if they make a move, it's going to be for a vet to sit in for Greene and WM.

I am definitely ok with the Kings looking for a DMan. What I am not ok with is shipping some of the talent they have now off. I realize they've been playing mediocre as of late, but if they can get back on track I don't want to lose any of the top guys. The player that makes the most sense to trade is Jonathan Bernier. I'm not sure what he might command in a trade and I realize that might be a hefty price to pay for a DMan, who essentially is a rental replacing Matt Greene.

What I want to see them bring in is a QB for the PP. I don't care whether he even plays the rest of the game, but I want someone who can set something up on the PP. Then again, part of that might be the system the Kings are using, as opposed to the players in that system.

Jamie McBain has been a healthy scratch in Carolina for some games. Probably him? Maybe to offensive for DL's taste?

Maybe Volchenkov?
