Wellwood is not fantastic. But he skates pretty fast and plays with heart. I actually kind of like him. I was sorry to hear that they sent him back down. I think he deserves to be on the team more than some other players.

Honestly, I don't know why they sent Wellwood down. He's a pretty great 4th liner. Don't know why you'd ever choose to play Sestito over him.

With Laughton sent back, I wouldnt be surprised if Wellwood came back up

Wellwood is a dime a 4th line/fringe player. Every organization has guys like that.

So the guy who has been scratched in the AHL earlier this season for attitude issues has quietly become the heart and soul of the Flyers?

Methinks Homer misread the names and sent Laughton down instead of Leighton.

I never understood the Wellwood fascination other then that he is very fast. He has no scoring ability at the NHL level and he lacks strength to be an effective grinder on a night to night basis. Like GFH said he's a fringe NHLer.

He has what I refer to as "Tomas Hyka Syndrome." His initial brief stint with the Flyers in 2010 he looked pretty good (playing on a line with Mike Richards IIRC), putting up one point in three games and playing a solid two-way game. Ever since then he has been one of those players that has an inflated reputation. Nothing against the guy, as many have pointed out he is a solid 4th liner. But if he never plays another game in Orange and Black, he will be replaced by another dime-a-dozen fourth liner.

He is crazy fast though, it's rather entertaining.

If my choices are him, tostitos, superstar or rinaldo. I'm picking wellwood.

What kind of Flyer fan would rather have Wellwood than Rinaldo or Sestito or even Jody Shelldogg? Today's Flyer fans are weird, that's for sure.

Some of us have realized it isnt the 70s anymore, and goons wont win us games. Even then, the team was rough, not goony which some want here.

I would rather have the Flyers play Flyers hockey and lose than play 2000s Red Wing hockey and win. Play the Flyer way or don't play at all.

That's silly. I would prefer olde tyme hockey over today's game as well, but I would still prefer a Cup over no Cup. Granted in my life time neither method has brought a Cup to Philly...

Wow. I 100% disagree. Might want to change teams then cause luckily their changing their philosophy which wins. Id rather win which 99% of Flyers fans would probably want.

It's no less crazy than when people last year said the Flyers needed Zac Rinaldo to throw hits in order to raise the energy level and win games.
