The Avs really won that trade. Sgarbossa might end up being the best player out of the trade (I see him as a 50-55 pt C or LW eventually with some grit). McGinn is the second best player and should be a good 20g winger (per 82 game season) for the next few years next to Stastny. The Sharks just got a few month of Winnik where he was a solid 3rd line wing, and Galiardi who should be a solid 3rd line wing for the Sharks but I don't see him as anything more than that at this point.

i havent heard about it, and have been wondering the same thing, haven't watched many monsters games lately, but he looked good out there. rather have him on contract than some of the other career ahlers.

I haven't read the whole thread but what do you think of Tyson Barrie? What type of player do you project him to become?

Don't know, but I had noticed earlier he has missed a few games now. Don't know if it's an injury. Skating Tripods or anyone else know?

Kinda surprised he got that spot over Sgarbossa.

One would have to assume Sgarbossa is a part of the All-Star game though?

He is but I'm also shocked that Agozzino is starting over Sgarbossa but I'm happy for him.

No idea. The news media around here don't care to update anybody on anything. I tweeted at pbp guy Doug Plagens last week to ask about Hishon and he didn't answer, so I doubt I'd get an answer about Elliott.

Monsters had an attendance of 14,142 tonight. There must be a lot of alcoholics in Cleveland.

How has been Gaunce for the Monsters this year? I see that he doesn`t have much points, but has he been solid defensively?

Go back a bit in the thread. I asked the same question and apparently the news is not good. There was a reason he didn't get an invite to camp.

Like Av-merican said, this question was asked a page or two ago.

Gaunce played a lot more in Thursday's game with the Barrie call up and the Elliott scratch. He was a non-factor and I didn't notice him, which, overall is a good thing. He nearly got a stick on van der Gulik's goal going hard to the net, though that's not exactly where he's supposed to be.

But, as I said previously, he doesn't seem to be getting any better. Definitely has plateaued, possibly regressed. Lacks any physical edge and his agility and foot speed are killing him against smaller, skilled forwards. The better the caliber of player on the ice against him, the more he has struggled this season.

I wanna see Sgarbossa get a chance. He could play next to Mitchell and Hejduk on the third line. Or if Mcginn keeps struggling put him on the 3rd line and put Sgarbossa with Stastny and Jones.

From the LEM website: "...With an assist Sgarbossa has three goals and five assists for eight points over his last four games..."

Since he was in camp Sgarbossa has raised his level of play, perhaps getting a taste of the NHL lifestyle has whet his appetite.

Seems like it yes. Seems like he wants to prove that he warrants a shot when injury problems arise.

Apparently Sgarbossa and Agozzino did decent.

Monsters rookie forwards Andrew Agozzino and Mike Sgarbossa helped the Western Conference squad rally and eventually edge out the Eastern Conference team by a final tally of 12-11.

Sgarbossa and Agozzino each competed in three events: Sgarbossa in the Sher-Wood Puck Control Relay, Pepsi Pass and Score and the H&R Block Breakaway Relay; Agozzino in the Sher-Wood Puck Control Relay, the Pepsi Accuracy Shooting and the H&R Block Breakaway.

Early competition, during the Sher-Wood Puck Control Relay, Andrew Agozzino displayed some impressive skating and control as he secured the win for the West serving as anchor for Heat #2

Both Mike Sgarbossa and Andrew Agozzino will represent the Lake Erie Monsters and the Western Conference in Monday night's All-Star matchup at 7:00 p.m. ET in Providence, RI. Agozzino will be in the starting lineup for the West.

I know Sgarbossa and Agozzino are prime candidates for the next callup...what about Luke Walker? Stats-wise he appears to be doing reasonably well.

Honestly I'd rather call-up DVDG, Bill Thomas and even Paul Carey before Luke Walker. Walker is fast but he has no finish at all so it can get extremely frustrating at times. But he is one of the two professional athletes that I have met (the other one being Olver) so I would be really happy if he was called up. He seems like a really nice guy and I'm pretty sure that he was shocked that I could recognize him. Also Agozzino doesn't have a NHL contract yet so he can't be called up.
