I've been excited about Gelinas since I saw a poster who saw him in the Q say that he reminded him of Pronger. He might never reach quite that level, but I think he is going to be a valuable player.

He is big, mobile, strong defensively, physical when he needs to be, and he has a wicked shot. I'd love to have a guy with his skill set on the Devils defence for many years.

Maybe. It depends on who the other defencemen on the team are, and what sort of quality depth we have. If guys like Urbom, Gelinas, Severson, and Scarlett pan out, or we still have quality veteran players here, then we can pair them. If we want to spread the talent around, then split them. It's a bit early to worry about this, honestly.

well, you might be a fool to not want ovi, kovy, and zajac on a line together based on the coaching ****show in washington. he'd thrive here. but, moot point. he won't be moved. just more of a hypothetical.

wut

He made the team (and this is the Devils we're talking about) on merit as an 18 year old. For the first 3 months of the season, he was the BEST DEFENSEMAN on the Devils. He played 65 games and led Devils D on points, 6 points behind Zidlicky in roughly the same amount of games! NINETEEN YEARS OLD.

He may end up as the Brian Campbell instead of the Keith or Seabrook, but that's not a slight against him. He won't be flashy, but he's the guy you can trust in any situation and with his efficient style, he could be a huge minute eater. You build your defense around guys like Larsson.

Add me to the Gelinas train. In fact, he and Severson might be my favorite d-men prospects in our system, over guys like Merrill and Urbom.

I'm with you, I'm baffled by the continued love for Ryan Murphy over Larsson.

Campbell is flashier than Seabs. Just saying.

If Larsson continues to develop and adds to his point production (especially needs to take more shots), he should become that franchise type of a Dman, I agree. More like Chara than Karlsson. We need to find an offensively gifted PP QB elsewhere though. Let`s hope Merrill, Gelinas or Scarlett can get there. Can`t wait for Severson either. And anybody who`d rather take Murphy needs to get his head checked.

I think Merrill can be that guy, his playmaking skill as a PP QB is excellent. Gelinas has the big shot, but I'm not sure how good a puck distributor he is.

Early last season, I'd have said Adam Larsson. Now I think that it is Adam Henrique, who could be a future Selke Trophy candidate as I see it.

Henrique will win a Lady Bing before a Selke. Didn't he have like 9 PIMs last year? 5 of which were from a fight that Iginla started, and he got a minor for puck over the glass. Pretty sure he took only one "real" penalty last season.

Larsson is our next franchise defenseman, of that I am certain.

As for Henrique... Dynamic as **** and our next Zach Parise in terms of goal-scoring. He'll be an integral part of our forward corps for years to come and possibly our next captain if Salvador is to retain the C for the rest of his contract.

If last years season of 65 points is not a fluke than you are stuck with him at 9.5 mil until 2021. But yea this organization brings out the best in almost everyone and both Henrique and Larsson seem like great kids off and on the ice so i am very comfortable with our future.

This Poll-Thread is missing the "ALL OF THE ABOVE" option.

Why does it have to be one or the other?

I'd like to say Larsson, but as someone pointed out with a thin forward corps and a thick d corps I have no argument against people saying Henrique.

A game winner late in an SCF game 4 facing elimination, where it was the most skilled goal of his can't be overlooked either. It was also the most skilled goal the Devils scored during the SCF. Everything else was a rebound, empty net, deflection, ridiculous bounce off someone, or Quick wandering and misplaying it. Not to mention he was the only guy who could score more than one goal for us that series.

Abstaining from vote.
They're both the future of this franchise, for sure. I just don't know which direction we're heading in.

With Pete holding the reins, it very well could be Henrique.
Henrique fits in perfectly with the way Pete coaches.

With Larsson's upside, he very well could make his presence be felt throughout the lineup. Especially since the Devils have always placed an emphasis on defense.

I'm happy to have them both and hope we can hang onto them for a long, long time.

I'm still a little skeptical about whether Henrique can duplicate his offensive performance so I'll say Larsson.

Either way we are entering the era of the Adams. Hopefully the Devils will be just as dominant during it as they were during the era of the Scotts.

Not so sure on Larsson at the moment.

PDB doesn't develop his young dmen that great. I say he becomes a steady 2nd pairing guy that does everything meh with some strokes of genius in his passing.

Prove me wrong Adam.

Yeah, I messed up there. Should be either without or less

Larsson learned from Larry Robinson and is learning from Scott Stevens. I'm pretty sure DeBoer isn't the primary one developing him.

Let Pete develop the forward corps. Good work ethic and strong fore check is a good system for any young gun

Everyone is souring on Adam Larsson what the **** is happening on these boards? What has Larsson showed anyone lately to make them think something is wrong?
