Happening: Big flood Downtown Montreal

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montre...-montreal.html

Quote:
A major flood in downtown Montreal is snarling traffic during the city's peak rush hour.

Montreal police said the water is pouring out on Sherbrooke Street between Peel and University streets.

A note sent to employees at the University of McGill warned of "severe flooding on the downtown campus that originated near the McTavish reservoir."

The note said that several buildings have been flooded.

From my email:
The City of Montreal has told us they hope to have the flow of water shut off within the hour.

For the moment, the flooded area extends from Dr. Penfield Ave. to Ste. Catherine St. and from University St. to Peel St. Traffic has been severely restricted in that area.

For future updates, please visit*http://publications.mcgill.ca/reporter/ * where will will post messages as information becomes available.

We would like to remind you to please use extreme caution in making your way around the campus or in trying to leave the area. It is slippery underfoot and water continues to flow forcefully along several roadways on campus.

What was her game plan though? Make it to the middle of the stream where the pressure is the highest, anchor in and come up with a new plan?

What exactly kept coming down the stream? Were those suitcases? Is there some donkey kong mother****er at the top of the hill just tossing **** down at her? This girl would suck at platforming.

I'm surprised a whiteknight didn't try saving her. Hard to tell with the ****** cam and YouTube quality but she looked like a fine fish IMO.

City says an accident at a construction site caused this.

It'll take 2 hours to stop the leak, apparently. It comes from the McTavish reservoir, not the city's pipes.

At every minutes, there is million of litres sent into downtown Montreal. Skyscrappers are being flooded, the Ville-Marie parking is being heavily flooded

Yeah, they've been replacing water pipes under Dr Penfield @ pine (just above McGill downtown campus, or I guess inside campus if you consider the hospital buildings to be part of mcgill)

Clearly someone screwed up.
