Tonights report card

A win! A win!. Pretty solid effort by the boys tonight especially in the first two periods.

Brewer - Is it coincidence that the Oilers are now winning since he has come back in the lineup. I don't think so, he logs a lot of icetime and is one of the few Oiler dman that can lug it out of the zone or made a good first pass.

Chimera - Gets back in the lineup and scores a goal on a howitzer.

Conklin - I thought he maybe could have had the PP goal but made some good saves. Good effort.

Cross - Nice effort this evening, he was good defensively and showed good offensive instincts on his goal.

Dvorak - Excellent game. Wow!, he was all over the ice. Whenever he got on the ice he was creating chances.

Ferguson - Another simple solid game. Helps him to be paired with Brewer IMO.

Hemsky - Ok ,nothing spectaculor.

Horcoff - Benifited by getting to play with Dvorak and Torres this evening but was solid defensively. He has played better his last couple of games.

Isbister - Nothing great, but nothing bad either.

Moreau - Strong defensive effort.

Oates - Ok game, nothing to write home about.

Pisani - Was solid before his injury, hope nothing serious.

Semenov - Made some good defensive plays and is starting to use his body more effectively.

Smith - Very solid, noticed this evening that he has one of the highest plus-minus marks in the NHL. Blocked a shot that led to the Chimera goal.

Smyth - Nothing really spectaculor. Was able to create a few chances with good hustle along the boards.

Staios - Played well tonight.

Stoll - Again won some key defensive faceoffs this evening.

Torres - This is the type of game that Torres was playing earlier this season with great success. He was hustling, creating turnovers. Getting in the open, so Dvorak could get him the puck. Cycling the puck back to Dvorak and creating room for him. Good pairing.

York - Good defensively.

listening to the game, torres seemed to be more involved and that is good news. good to hear, hopefully consistency will creep into his game.

I would think that Torres playing with two of the Oilers most consistent (Dvorak and York) players has to help.

All I can say is that if we're trading both Comrie and BG to the Ducks, it had better be a better return than the initially rumoured one a little while back (MacDonald/Perry/1st).

Laraque re-injured his thumb.
