The panel on Satellite Hotstove on CBC discussed Subban and from they've been told by other GMs, Subban is not available. Of course, it wouldn't be a first where other GMs were given false information or if talks were kept under wraps.

FYI, this was also just tweeted to further support what the HNIC crew reported:

Of course, things can change. We saw that when the Bruins shocked everyone by trading Joe Thornton and also with the Flyers when they dealt Mike Richards.

Not sure I like anything Damien Cox says but geez, we're only a couple of weeks in guys!

Penner and a 4th for Niklas Hjalmarsson..I doubt the hawks do it. Maybe before the season started but penner has already reduced his value.

-still not convinced on HJammer. he's still very inconsistent.
-going to take more than Penner and 4th to get him, serious lowball
-most importantly, CHI isn't going to change anything right now to change that locker room. they are rolling. talk here in CHI is about how they feel a similar vibe to 2010

So tell me again how trading for Subban with a package that includes Voynov addresses our defensive depth or apparent lack thereof?

The idea at play would be that swapping one defenseman for another defenseman who can play huge minutes ultimately decreases responsibility on the bottom pairing, thus decreasing the need for greater depth.

Any decent vet that can picked up on the cheap would help. Like Muzzin so far and DD44 hasn't been horrid.

Moving Richards for Subban makes no sense, Carter is a much better RW, he's a shoot first guy, not really the type of guy you want a center to be, he's much more effective on the wing.

I'd trade Voynov for Subban in a heart beat and I love Voynov but Subban would be great, but I don't see anything being done with him involved at all.

Subban is better than Voynov, and can anchor a 2nd pairing forever. The Kings would then have 2 lines which can come out ahead vs top opposition

Yah I get that I suppose but gaining a defenseman at the expense of a reliable (and Stanley Cup-winning) defenseman just seems like treading water.

Why would the Kings make a deal...when Mitchell and Greene come back Muzzin and Drewiske will be healthy scratches along with whoever we pick up? No way we carry 3 extra D.

You're one of many that confuses passing along rumors with claiming they are breaking stories.

Agreed. $4.25 million until the 2016-2017 while the cap becomes more condensed after this one is a bit worrisome. And while he's not that terribly old at age 30, he's got a lot of wear and tear on that body of his with that playing style.

I like Leopold.

That said, I think people are thinking in the wrong direction for what type (if any) D player we could be looking at.

There is another solution.
