2.875 cap hit, ridiculously low. The Habs played with fire and got lucky.

$2M and $3.75 is a little more reasonable than the original offer. Still pretty cheap for what he brings to the table.

Ya, when P.K. is up for renewal in 2014, the Gionta-Kaberle-Markov deals will be over. 15 M in room right there.
Also possible Cole hang it up by then, freeing up 4.5 M.
Bourque will still be around.
P.K. getting 3.75 M in year 2 is a big thing for him. It means his QO for 2014-15 will be that.
But enough cap math.

Great news !
I guess it means the end for Kaberle and Weber. Neither of them will be in the lineup unless there's an injury.

5.75 over two years... 2.875 per cap hit.
Habs did raise the offer a bit. A wee bit. But we still racked him over the coals. Now, if he can make himself into the best D in the NHL, I'm sure we will gladly give him 8 years for Doughty+ money.

5.75 mill for two years. I think both come out winners. but MB comes out the bigger winner here. He didn't give him the long term deal which to me is pretty important. I personally feel this deal is pretty perfect for Subban as well. He has 1 year and a half to prove how much he's worth that 5-6 million.

That's what I figured. Prorated for 44 games this year, equals roughly 7.5 mil for 2 full years. Nice!

Pardon my ignorance but does this mean that Subban will be UFA in two years or he's going to be RFA again ?

And I hope too, because it will mean he derserves it and he played really well during this contract. I'm ready to give him a millions more than he wanted this year in order to make sure he's a good player to put that much money on.

In two seasons, Montreal will have Markov, Kaberle and Gionta as UFAs.
Subban can pretty much ask for the moon then.

So we once had the DARKEST DAY IN HABS HISTORY.
Tonight, with Gally and Chuky staying up and PK signing - is this the bestest day in (recent) Habs history

RFA again. He will only be 4 seasons deep in his career.
