I think we would all prefer to add a multiple Norris finalist to the team

The best defenseman in the league wouldn't be too bad, I guess.

^ Don't understand why i'm taking hits for that comment, this was a widely discussed possibility at one point. I don't think it's completely out of the question if the right moves were made. But hey!

Won't happen and I'd much rather OS O'Reilly if this was an option.

I thought one of the reasons we moved Campbell was to create depth? Adding another player with a long contract/high cap hit isn't the answer...

Nope. There have been tons of better options if we were going to do an OS.

Call me crazy - but not having Subban on the ice means it's not being handled "very well".

And I understand what MB is trying to do. It's just hard to convince a guy who was the Hab's #1 d-man last year to take a short term bridge contract. That typically works when you have a guy who was utilized signficantly less than PK was last year.

Bergevin makes a rookie mistake, if the reports are true he really undervalues PK and his worth

I agree with MB, Subban is overrated and look at the Habs, they are just fine without him. This is a great chance for them to get a key piece they need.

Subban deserves the exact same contract Michael Del Zotto got...exact. they are very close in terms of points in their young careers and though Subban plays a more physical game, thats the kind of contract he should sign with Montreal to prove his talent like Del Zotto did...P.K says he is a team player, but coming straight from a lockout this clown thinks he is worth Doughty pay...Montreal is doing the right thing here as he needs to prove more for that kind of money.

Bergevin wins.

2 years. 2mil year one and 3.75 year two.

Meehan and Subban folded on that one. Waste of a few games for PK.

looks like I was right as he got 2yr/5.75 mil contract....there was no way he should have gotten more than Del Zotto. Good for Montreal to stick with their guns, get a short term deal and a solid cap hit.

times are changing with contracts in the "new" NHL...but give it 2-3 years and back to the insane I am sure..

At least now we know the upper limit on what Leddy should be getting.

Carlson signed a big one at 4 per for 6.
Kulikov had a 2 x2.5
DZ and Subban.

Armstrong and Wilson have extensions to dmen coming up, but they're unlikely to drive the market up much..

Leddy's extension should be very reasonable. I won't mind if it's a 3 or 4 year deal for a little more. He can skate and move the puck, so he'll keep value.

3 with 2.5 per would be good for Leddy and us

I agree.

I think Leddy signs a very similar deal to both Del Zotto and Subban...Hawks should know this from what just went down.
