Montreal gets an elite player for the first time since Patrick Roy. Pittsburgh improves at defense, gets a placeholder on center (Eller), and finally has an offensive winger better than Pascal Dupuis to play with Crosby.
This is actually well thought out. We do lose a lot of size though. Swap Bourque for a 2nd rounder?

If Ryan O'Reilly is really available from the Avs, I really hope Bergevin is all over that

Look at this gem of a proposal regarding a trade for Ovechkin (as if Montreal has any interest, but I digress):

I think Boston, Maybe Monreal would be the guys to do it.

Perhaps Max, Pk, a blue chip prospect and a 1st?

Boston it would start with Hamilton.

So, Subban, Pacioretty, a blue chip prospect (we only really have one, and he just made the team) AND our 1st for 65 point Ovechkin.

Where do we sign???

Way too expensive IMO. Unless they aim longterm and trade Plekanec, he can stay in Colorado.

I don't mean to rock the boat here on my first post. But never in a million years should anyone want this a trade like this to happen. And never in a million years would bergevin do a multi player trade of any combination involving p.k., max pac, or bourque. Our team is playing well right now and a trade like that would DESTROY our nucleus and put us right back into the mess that gauthier created. Our team has chemistry, we do not have a "elite" forward but right now why go for one? we are getting scoring from every line, actually 3.25 goals per game. Any team that you can expect to score 3 to 4 goals every game is a dangerous team to play against. We are especially dangerous because right now we are doing that but we have the rock Carey Price and some damn good defenders in front of him. alot of other high scoring teams don't have this.
On a side note Bourque is our best player right now if you don't look at the score sheet. He is working his ass off every game and it show's. He wants to play for this team now.And he looks real good out there.

The only players you can expect to see moved in the near future are

Lars Eller
Yannick Weber
P.K. Subban

Might as well throw Crosby in there, he's one of the biggest Habs fans ever.

**** it, get Lemieux out of retirement too.

I was thinking the same thing. He's played multiple different roles. And I don't remember him doing bad in any of them.

Plus, he's actually a genuinely good person.

Perry would have grown up around the Theo era, right?

I sometimes wonder what it would be like growing up with the Habs being, well, not as great as when I was going up (29 years old). Sure, as a teenager until now, it's gone from abysmal to Gainey restarting the motor and giving us some great playoff series (Koivu, Kovy, etc.), but wow, I wonder what it takes for a kid from London to be a Habs fan through those years. Oh right...the other option is the Laffs.

You'd be lucky to find a Diaz clone with Detroid's 2nd.

Not any better, Diaz is part of this organization going forward. Wings can have Kaberle or Weber

Weber has little value, Kaberle has almost no value unless they're real desperate.

Diaz is garnering a lot of attention and that Detroit 2nd rounder is lookin mighty tasty right about now.

You do realize not every 2nd rounder turns into PK Subban, right?

Habs already have 3 2nd rounders in a very deep draft. More is always better.

And I hope you realize that getting a 2nd in return for a 3rd pairing D who was signed as a free agent is solid asset management.

Can't be terrified that every player will turn into Mark Streit.
