Just wondering what the consensus value (if there is such a thing on HF) of Mike Richards to Toronto would be. What would it take for him to be traded to the Leafs?
Two distinct questions.
What would it take for him to be traded to the Leafs?
Too much, LA doesn't want to move him so you would have to overpay.

No such thing on HF, but the quantity for quality idea is a useless discussion, as always on HF. Thus it has to be quality for quality.
I doubt Lombardi would do this even if Kessel is better offensively. Lombardi wants character players, not guys like Kessel.
I see your point but I am of the opinion you generally cant add up pieces to make up for the best player in a trade.
So you try to trade one for one to get value. Kessel is faster and better offensive instincts but Richards is no slouch offensively and has a hell of a lot more grit and character so while Richards is the better overall player its as close as I could get to value.
While Kessel theoretically may hold similar trade value, the Kings will value Richards more because of what he is to them.
Hahaha, if Toronto offered Kessel for Richards LA would do it in a heartbeat.
I like Richards but I don't see the appeal in trading Grabo + significant pieces for him. Grabovski was better in 2011-2012 and only slightly worse in 2010-2011. If the Leafs were to trade Grabo + JVR for Richards for example, I think that only makes the Leafs worse. Ideally they'd want to trade for a center without giving up Grabovski, unless it's a significant improvement over him, which Richards is not.
ok i ll try this again grabo wouldnt be a piece the kings would be interested at all We have a better center playing right wing in carter So if la did trade richards carter would be the second line center.
We've seen how Carter plays when Richards isn't around. It's not pretty.
Remember - when you're a hockey fan, it's not "reckless driving", it's "good forechecking".
