i think its time for a mini-rebuild. these old forwards can't hack it anymore. legwand, fisher, even erat only has a couple years left
Legwand, Fisher, Spaling, Gaustad... all the same player minus any scoring chance from Gaustad. And Spaling is the only one earning his pay. It's crazy to have that much redundancy up the middle. Legwand and Fisher don't belong in top 6 roles, and Gaustad is severely overpaid to be a 4th liner.
Of course we did have some talent come up at center, remember our first round center pick Colin Wilson? or that bright young center Craig Smith who came up last year? Yeah they're on the wings because they don't fit Trotz' needs at center.
Something stinks up front with the Preds, and the bottom line rests with Coach and GM. Even if a certain group of posters won't ever allow them to be criticized or take blame for anything that has happened in the last 15 years.

It's because we got good press. We ranked in the top 10 in the power rankings on TSN before the season started. Most pundits said we were a lock for the playoffs. We ALWAYS **** up when the hockey media pays attention to us.
Trotz has lost me. Gaustad on the PP? Really? I thought he was out there to win a face off which I think he lost all three he took. I figured he'd win the face off and maybe get off the ice for someone with talent. I'm sorry but when you're struggling with offense you don't put a face off specialist on the ice, you put guys with talent on the ice.
I was watching the Blues last night and their second unit is better than our top unit. It's sad. While I don't know what the answer is, I haven't for years, we need to develop our forwards better. Yeah, they can play in a defensive role but you also need guys that can put the puck in the net with some creativity, by going to the net, by shooing the puck, you know the way other teams do it.
It's just sad that I had to watch not one but two power play with Paul Gaustad on it. Freaking sad.

Doesn't explain why we can't beat Phoenix though. Look at their centers, or forwards in general. There is something else very wrong besides talent.
