Former Penguin prospect Chad Johnson recorded a shutout for Phoenix. Besides Fleury, the only Penguin draft pick to record an NHL shutout since the 1999 draft (Caron).

Nick Johnson had a goal and an assist in the same game.

On a side note, does anyone know what happened to Kuhnhackl?
Kuhnhackl, yeah shoulder injury. Hopefully he'll be able to stay healthy, won't be another Veilleux, where we see a talented player for an average of 10 games a season.

I actually like Agostino and some of the hockey people I've talked to are impressed with him. He's thought to have a fairly pro-ready style of game in the sense that his tools should translate to the pro-style. Keep in mind Bennett didn't really look overly impressive while with DU. He'd show flashes of brilliance, or go on point streaks, but he had a lot of the similar issues...not always involved, played on the perimeter a lot, a lot of east-west play, and so on. He projects as a player who couples hard work with skill and models his game after Ryan Callahan. Not sure he'll ever reach that lofty projection, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was able to contribute in the NHL one day.

Don't ever take anything away from the prospect camps. The only thing to be gained from them is if a player does something extraordinary. Otherwise leave the good and the bad be...it's a camp.

I'm interested to see how Archibald develops over the next two seasons. He reminds me of Chris Kunitz in his blend of skill, grit, and speed. He has nice speed, if he adds more size, he could be a great addition to a skill line. He will have to get bigger first but I think playing in the WCHA is good practice for a player before going to the pros, as they have a lot of big talented defensemen in the WCHA.

Watched some games back in December with Minnesota state. He's a freshman so his opportunities aren't as great as the upperclassmen, but he makes the most of his chances. Has the look of a player who'll have a serious breakout next year. His skill level, especially the passing is evident. Plays a little ornery. I believe the Pens pegged him as a simmilar type of player as Mike Fisher or Brandon Sutter, a two-way guy who has some skill. Can play in the top-six, can be used in a shutdown role as well. Needs to add strength, just get bigger. Minnesota State has a much improved program from years past, but I'd still, if I was the Pens, want to get him out of the NCAA after maybe two years...definitely not for the full four. We shall see though...

ex-WBS player Ben Ferreiro just scored an assist on Michael Del Zotto's opener against the Flyers.

I find that extremely hard to believe.

Seriously? It's like you don't watch any of the Pens games or their prospects.

I completely agree with Ian on his evaluation and I've seen plenty of Bleugers this season. He is in the mold of what he listed. It is just a matter of getting there. Though I wouldn't be opposed to him staying 3-4 years to make sure he's ready. His defensive game, IMO, is almost pro ready. He just needs to work on his strength and refine his offensive tools.

The kid isn't well known, but when you watch him a lot, you quickly understand why Shero took a chance on him.

I saw three games with Blueger at the junior WC and what defines his game, IMO, is hockey IQ and hands/stickhandling. What he lacks is size/physicality and he could surely be a better skater.

Except for saying that Fisher/Sutter are defensively responsible 2nd/3rd line centers and Blueger might become the same, I cannot see the similiarity. Fisher and Sutter are much better athletes than Blueger, but are not blessed with the same level of talent on the puck.

I have and had no problems with that pick. I think the comparisons are odd for reasons already mentioned, but that might admittedly be due to not having seen enough of him.

Filip Forsberg now has 11 goals and 24 pts in 28 games for Leksand. We're going to be sorry we didn't draft him.

Maybe. At this point in time, who knows? Maybe the Penguins will regret not taking him at some point in the future, but it's probably not going to be because he's tied for 43rd in scoring in the second tier in Sweden.

Its not like Pouliot is struggling. Other than his recent injury (which is not consdiered to be serious), he's played very well and many who've watched him play claim that he's been the best player on the ice most of the time. That's a huge endorsement considering that he plays on the same team as Seth Jones & Ty Rattie.

Oh I agree, he's been their best player when I've seen them.

Seems like a very talented but rather streaky player.

Where does he sit in points, overall?

EDIT: Nevermind. 14th in the Q. Not too shabby.

I would certainly hope the Pens are following this guy. I hear he can lower the boom too, when he gets pissed off.

Get some more offense in the system.

I agree, he's a finisher and has good speed for his size.

Him and Domi were ranked 17th and 18th. I can see Domi being picked by the Penguins as well if he's there when we pick, all depends on our draft position.
