Bruins will never add that kind of salary to their payroll.
Indeed. The Bruins add more than $9 million to their payroll. And this is the Bruins we're talking about, the team that tends to be very conservative when dealing with free agents (the exception being Marty Lapointe). Berard, Allison, Guerin and Dafoe are just a few examples of guys who were either moved or allowed to leave as free agents because they wanted too much money from the perspective of Bruins ownership.
You have the right idea - the Stars most likely are looking to do some sort of a deal to shake things up a bit, and would love to trim payroll while doing so - but the Bruins just aren't going to add salary. If anything, the Bruins are looking to rid themselves of salaries of guys like Lapointe and Zamuner.
Good try, but it just wouldn't work. I think the value is a bit slanted in the Bruins favor, but the salaries just make it completely unfair for them.
