3 way deal at Deadline: Schneider+ for Perry: Call to Schneider Interested Fan Bases.
Alright so Luongo is currently providing the best goaltending for the Canucks thus far this season, so this thread was inevitable, and if you don't like it you don't have to post.
That being said the Canucks are not going to have a year with a better chance to win a cup than this year. I'm not necessarily saying their chances will instantly diminish after this year, but the Sedins aren't getting any younger, and now is this time to make a push.
The reason the Canucks have failed in their past two playoff series (LA and Boston) is a severe lack of secondary scoring. This is why I propose they make a significant pitch for Perry this deadline. Now correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that Anaheims greatest need is a young 2nd line center with great upside, and unfortunately the Canucks do not have one of these to offer up, but I believe they would still be willing to move significant assets to acquire Perry as a rental for this years playoffs.
Now this is my call to other fan bases. I'm not going to pretend like I know how much you value your players, and honestly I don't know who would be interested in acquiring Schneider. So what young future assets would you be willing to give up for Schneider for the Canucks to in turn flip to Anaheim along with additional prospects.
Now I believe that Nicklas Jensen could be a significant piece of this trade to go to Anaheim. And would be a prospect that could step in and start to fill the void that Perry leaves as soon as next year (assuming he doesn't just come back and re-sign in the offseason.) And please don't instantly spout out with "Any trade to Anaheim starts with Zack Kassian". Once young players start to prove themselves in the NHL they come off the table in rental deals, it just doesn't happen especially when Kassian was targeted and acquired just last season and is currently filling a significant need. That being said Jensen is looking to be a great prospect and should not be overlooked.
To wrap up Schneider does not have a NTC he can go anywhere, whoever is willing to give up the right assets could acquire him. Anaheim what would you be targeting in a potential Perry deadline deal? I know its not a happy topic to be discussing moving a star player but it very well could be a reality, so we may as well have the discussion. And I expect Canucks fans to be opposed to moving both Schneider and Jensen for a potential rental player, but you gotta make a push for the cup while you have a chance, and if a player like Perry became available it would give the Canucks a 2nd line of Booth-Kesler-Perry and that should finally be the much needed secondary scoring needed to give this team a legitimate shot at their first cup.
Ok HF ill turn it over to you from here, do your worst.
Hell no. Perry won't re-sign with us and Schneider is worth waaay more than a rental, as good as Perry is. I also strongly doubt he would fit with our dressing room. There doesn't seem to be a lot of love lost between him and the Canucks.
