Turns out I was wrong about them losing their first four. They went 0, 3, 1.
Take it from me I lived it! Brodeur won the Calder the year before, and I actually thought he was the second coming of Sean Burke early in that lockout shortened 95 season.

I think you guys have a good chance this year. I'm rooting for you in the west!

We always dump the puck. Usually we're better at getting it back.

So LA is a better team. Flat out? Is this the assertion here?

Are people ready to accept this as fact? The evidence is pretty telling.
We haven't seen our team yet.

LA was clearly better tonight.

Facetious? I'm asking seriously. LA is better than the Canucks, has everyone accepted this?

The regular season PTs and the SCF run seem to be clouding the fact that certain teams have well passed the Canucks in ability. LA is one, judging from the response here. I'd say NYR is another. CHI has always been there. BOS of course etc...

How good is this team really?

Not to mention this was probably LA's best game of the year.

I'm sure this was said when the NHL was comprised of six teams, too. There is no rule that says it has to be a retread.

Canucks were playing not to lose.
Their still afraid of the Bruins and now their afraid of what the Kings did to them last year.

Harold Druken wouldn't stand for this.

The two goals were nice hard work team goals, but the Canucks can't compete wit that size and strength, especially withou Kesler and Booth.

Oh well...
I disagree. Every time they gained the red line they dumped it in and went off for a change. This happened for the last 10 minutes of the game or more by all the 3 lines that AV was playing - that's a conscious coaching decision. Nobody even tried to dump and chase or take it into the offensive zone themselves.

I'd like to see;

Sedins/Kassian
Higgins/Kesler/Burrows
Raymond/Schroeder/Booth
Malhotra/Lapierre/Hansen

and our D get comfortable before I concede that all these teams are better.

Oh I'm not being facetious.

I'm like most people on here and just want ONE Cup in my lifetime.

If that's what is required to get it then so be it.

Unfortunately, it looks like we will have to stick it out with the current core and hope for some luck along the way.

Think the Leafs will do a 2013 1st and 2nd for Raymond right about now?

Dont worry, the Blackhawks haven't gotten a shutout since April 2011. I'm sure we'll help them with that. Oh yeah, if you're wondering, that last shutout was against the Canucks.

We'll see. I'd argue it's easier to make up a ton of ground in the dog days of an 82 game season than it is in the stretch drive of a truncated schedule.

I guess I just don't see them going 20-6-3 over games 20-48 this year, and that's what it took to get them from their poor start to top 5 in the conference at the 48 game mark last season.

We saw our team last year. Who was the better team last year? VAN got the PT, but LA dominated the playoffs. Who was better?

Are the Kings the better team? Are they expected to beat the Canucks more often than not when they face each other?

It was a frustrating loss, but the end of days it was not. There were some positives to take away from this, as well as continued rust in some key areas.

Guys I liked - Kassian, Schroeder, Raymond, Burrows, Hansen, Weise, Ballard, Luongo.

I didn't think Edler and Garrison were as bad as some are saying, and I think Bieksa was relatively decent. Tanev got caught by the quick Kings' forecheckers a few times, but Ballard had a strong game covering for him.

We were fairly lucky to get ahead 2-0, as we really didn't generate and sustain much pressure, ditto for scoring chances. The Kings were much more consistent in their effort and execution throughout the game, forcing Luongo to make a lot of big saves, whereas Quick usually just need to be in roughly the right position to stop a puck.

The thing I found the most frustrating was the team trying to guide the 2-1 lead home rather than pursue the insurance marker. It's not a tactic that's worked well for us in the past, but given that we're missing some key pieces due to injury and that there is a lot of rust and what have you to be worked out, it's a positive step. We've earned a couple of points in games where he probably didn't deserve them.

We haven't seen anything remotely close to what this team has to offer yet, and there will be more stumbles before they start walking and eventually sprinting, IMO.
