Toronto probably says yes,
Detroit probably says no unless they're enamored with Gardiner and they might be.

Nyquist is legit. I assume Toronto would fit him right in
Helm is one of the best 3c in the league

Gardiner's questions seem to grow but he fits Detroit and played with Smith
macarthur would fit in well in Detroit

From his Badgers day I remember seeing him play quite a bit with McDonagh and McBain not a ton of Gardiner although it did happen from time to time. Played on the same team yes, but weren't generally partners from what I remember.

In any event I think both teams say no. The value is probably close enough, but each team needs what they have going the other way. They are probably more attached to their homegrown players and give it pause. I do think like you Toronto is probably closer to accepting this in their front office, but understand their fans hating the idea. Although my guess is Gardiner has lost a little bit of value in the last several months, still not close enough to move him probably.

I think Nyquist tops out around the Filppula level in the NHL. Not sure he will be a calder candidate, but he will be a player people will remember.

Helm is arguably the best 3 line center in the entire league. He brings a winning element to each game he plays in. Wings win more with him in the lineup than they do without him. That speaks volumes to how valuable he is.

I think Wings would be better passing on this trade and maybe try to acquire someone less expensive.

The value might be there, but I don't think either team would do it.
Detroit gives up alot of potential in Nyquist, and the leafs are in no position to give up Gardiner right now, if you ask me he will be their number 2 guy by the end of the season. Plus I think Detroit will be looking for a more proven defensman if they are gunna give up Gustav.

As a Wings fan I'd do something around Nyquist for Gunnarsson

I think Leafs might be interested having said that Toronto has too many forwards on the team already.

I feel like laying some major smack down on some of my fellow Leafs fans!!

I know talent when I see one.

That's it, I'm done!

Nyqvist still doesn't fit a need in Toronto, we need defense and centres not another winger i

Knew it'd be the OP who bumped this.

Just to let you know, I knew he was good for the past two years.

Toronto trades from an area of strength (as far as the farm is concerned) and gives up a very good, young D-man in Gardiner. Detroit gives up a high potential guy on offense. Helm gives Toronto a third line, shut-down C to help improve their team D and Detroit gets some extra scoring depth from MacArthur as well.

Minor adjustments from either side can be made.
I think this is a easy no by both teams.

Was reading through this saying what the **** over and over until I realized the date. Wouldn't trade Nyquist alone for that package.

Lol at Leaf fans saying no, guess Detroit can just keep Nyquist's 26 goals (which is about 50% of all Red Wing goals during this stretch run).

Bumping an old thread is fine if you're adding new information or interested in reviving the discussion/re-visiting the proposal. If you just want to scoreboard others though, that's not alright. Closed.
