Markov: 24-25 min (2nd PK/1st PP/Medium ES min)
Subban: 24-25 min (1st PK/2nd PP/Hard ES min)
Gorges: 22-23 min (1st PK/No PP/Hard ES min)
Emelin: 20-22 min (2nd PK/2nd PP/Medium ES min)
Diaz: 15-18 min (reserve PK/1st PP/Soft ES min)
Boullion: 15-18 min (reserve PK/No PP/Soft ES min)
Weber: #7 D
Kaberle: trade
wellp, thats the thread. somebody fax this to michel please
god damn subban and gorges were a HELL of a pairing last year.. they should be eating the minutes your right, would be great to see markov and emelin take advantage of 2nd lines
Markov: 24-25 min (2nd PK/1st PP/Medium ES min)
Subban: 24-25 min (1st PK/2nd PP/Hard ES min)
Gorges: 22-23 min (1st PK/No PP/Hard ES min)
Emelin: 20-22 min (2nd PK/2nd PP/Medium ES min)
Diaz: 15-18 min (reserve PK/1st PP/Soft ES min)
Boullion: 15-18 min (reserve PK/No PP/Soft ES min)
Weber: #7 D
Kaberle: trade
Don't know about the minutes, but I agree on the roles. I'd trade Weber because... well, just because. If he's not playing this year, he's definitely not playing after Beaulieu and Tinordi are added to the mix. I'd actually plan to keep both Kaberle and Bouillon until the end of the season (as long as it's one OR the other playing as the 6th man), but who knows what could happen at the trade deadline if they both play well in their spot duty. Not sure which one I prefer pairing up with Diaz on the 3rd ES pairing, though.
But Therrien seems to be a huge Bouillon fan, so I can see one of Kaberle (less likely) or Weber moved for a prospect/pick.
Gorges/Subban: Very good ES D performance, young, minute eaters.
Markov/Emelin: Next best ES performance, rest Marky a bit
Bouillon/Diaz: PP and PK specialists on 3rd pairing, perfect. Cut ES minutes
Kaberle: Gone at deadline
Weber: Will sub in enough to get his last chance, and improve his value.
My reasoning is pretty much strictly for the PP, and although he's not the same player anymore, he's clearly a better puck mover than Cube.
PP units:
Markov/Subban
Kaberle/Diaz
I have to agree with you. As long as Kaberle is on the team, I rather see him out there. He may have lost a step, but so has the Cube. This being said, it likely will be Boullion that plays due to Therrien's love of him.
Markov: 24-25 min (2nd PK/1st PP/Medium ES min)
Subban: 24-25 min (1st PK/2nd PP/Hard ES min)
Gorges: 22-23 min (1st PK/No PP/Hard ES min)
Emelin: 20-22 min (2nd PK/2nd PP/Medium ES min)
Diaz: 15-18 min (reserve PK/1st PP/Soft ES min)
Boullion: 15-18 min (reserve PK/No PP/Soft ES min)
Weber: #7 D
Kaberle: trade
This. On top of the quality of competition, I'd add that Gorges and Subban could play more minutes in games with less penalties. I'd keep a limit on Markov's ES ice time, we want to preserve his legs as long as possible. He should play a ton on the PP though.
Markov: 24-25 min (2nd PK/1st PP/Medium ES min)
Subban: 24-25 min (1st PK/2nd PP/Hard ES min)
Gorges: 22-23 min (1st PK/No PP/Hard ES min)
Emelin: 20-22 min (2nd PK/2nd PP/Medium ES min)
Diaz: 15-18 min (No PK/1st PP/Soft ES min)
Boullion: 15-18 min (reserve PK/No PP/Soft ES min)
Weber: #7 D
Kaberle: trade
Slight correction. After PK apologizes to the team, which he will, and gets in game shape, he and Gorgeuos will be the top ES pairing, giving Marky a break on ES, and protecting Emelin a little bit while he develops into a MONSTER playing with Marky.
So, to correct, very slightly, in about 4 games:
Subban: 26-28 min (1st PK/2nd PP/Hard ES min)
Markov: 24-26 min (2nd PK/1st PP/Medium ES min)
Gorges: 22-23 min (1st PK/No PP/Hard ES min)
Emelin: 20-22 min (Reserve PK/2nd PP/Medium ES min)
Diaz: 15-18 min (reserve PK/1st PP/Soft ES min)
Boullion: 15-18 min (2nd PK/No PP/Soft ES min)
Weber: #7 D
Kaberle: trade
You have exactly the same thoughts as I do. Subban keeps Marky fresh during ES, and Subban eats ES minutes with Gorgeous. Habs therefore very tough on D even strength.
Marky and Diaz remain no 1 PP, Subban and, yes: Emelin, 2nd unit. I am really interested in Subby Emelin 2nd unit.
Marky is a ****ing GOD on the PP. Honesty, the guy is a FREAK on the PP. I had forgotten how monstrous he is. He will definitely remain no 1 unit with Diaz.
Habs = tough ES, killer PP. Opponents will not take liberties with us at ES knowing we have 2 waves like that on PP.
That means less ES injury risk to Marky, and less PK duty all around, including for Pleks.
No way Subby plays 1st PP. Because Marky and Diaz have been unexpectedly incredible, we have the luxury of PK on PP unit 2. That is ****ing awesome.
Markov: 24-25 min (2nd PK/1st PP/Medium ES min)
Subban: 24-25 min (1st PK/2nd PP/Hard ES min)
Gorges: 22-23 min (1st PK/No PP/Hard ES min)
Emelin: 20-22 min (2nd PK/2nd PP/Medium ES min)
Diaz: 15-18 min (reserve PK/1st PP/Soft ES min)
Boullion: 15-18 min (reserve PK/No PP/Soft ES min)
Weber: #7 D
Kaberle: trade
I went to the last page, read this in the other quotes, and wondered what could have been on the previous pages of this thread?
Or is this thread part of the attempt to keep up with the Leafs board, did I miss the memo?

I don't see Therien sitting Bouillon any time soon.
Kaberle and Weber will sit and I expect one to be moved soon(7-10 days).
I think eventually Bouillon will sit out 1 or 2 games here and there to try and keep him fresh, so he doesn't wear oiut in this 48 games in 102 days schedule.

I could see that happen with Markov too, especially in a 3rd game in 4 nights type situation. Would be smart, IMO.
kabarle sits
its simple, therien scratched him last game and made a point to mention he was going to scratch him regardless of his getting a puck in the face
i dont get what the hate for cube is around here.
If he was good enough to be in nashvilles top 6 D he's gotta be doing something well
If he keeps his game simple he's a perfect #6 D and once in awhile explodes with a crushing hit noone expects

Tinordi will replace Cube next year, soft ES minutes, massive concentration on PK training. Tinordi will, I hope, become a PK monster for us.
Beaulieu will not be ready next year.
Kaberle and Weber will be gone.
No one else in our system is ready to step up. We are not as deep on D as people think.
In 2013 October I see:
Subby Gorges
Marky Emelin
Tinordi Diaz
UFA big and quality defensive D man, who can slot in for Gorges, Emelin, Tinordi or Diaz as required.
We can't replace Subby or Markov. Then Boston can't replace Chara, and Philly can't replace the Prongman. Nothing to be done in such cases.
He hasn't been terrible but I would not say he has been sold as a rock. He is getting way to much ice time.
Do you expect 6 no. 1 D men? Cube has stepped up while PK was on the sofa, and he will be a rock on the third pair with Diaz, and the PK. He was a brilliant pickup. Geez.
