Ol’ Blue Eyes has left the building. He is Ol’ Blue Nose now. The Malcolm Tucker of Ibrox.
And while I’m tempted to say ‘Who’d have thunk it?’ there were people out there – most of them lurking around in cyberspace – who suspected it was just so all along.
They’ve been telling us all for long enough that Traynor was a closet Rangers man and now that he’s stomping around Govan in a pair of regulation brown brogues, they say they have their proof.
They were wrong then and they are wrong now. Jim Traynor was never a Rangers man. He was a journalist and a damn fine one at that.
Having worked with him for 14 years I have no hesitation in describing him as Scotland’s best connected, most knowledgeable and well-informed football writer. Yes, he was also Machiavellian and at times even brutal but those were tools he used to help him in a relentless pursuit of the truth.
Rangers threatening to quit Scottish football if the proposed 12-12-18 rescheduling goes ahead.
Bye then I say.
Difficult to argue with his complaints.
Rangers have a right to have a victim mentality after the way they have been treated recently, including the actions of the SFA and SPL which verged on the disgraceful.
They haven't managed to act in a professionnel manner and have been banging on about their "investigation" into the club since long before the result of the tax case came in.
Tax result comes in, and their "investigation" has to basically shut down and review that report for months. Considering how heavily delayed the HMRC judgement was, why would any competent body plan to start an investigation so dependent on it's results before the judgement was out? They wouldn't. They completely expected Rangers to be found liable by HMRC, and when they weren't it put a massive spanner in their works.
Hopefully Tony Watt gets sent out on loan because he'll hardly get a look in now. Maybe to a team where he'd play every week, like County? Pretty please with sugar on top?
Disappointed Brittain is moving on, but I'm liking the signings County are making. I always liked Sproul, and Hainault gives me a Canadian I can root for without the blight of a Caley Thistle past to sully him.
Looking forward to see who this Greek left back is too, assuming he gets clearance, because I'd say that is our weakest position by far.
EDIT: The new league structure looks very confusing. I thought the split was bad enough. I would have preferred an expanded SPL (16 teams) with fewer games.
And switch to summer football!

The diddy teams won't ever vote for a 16/18 team League. Even if you had hard, irrefutable evidence it would make the League stronger... they still wouldn't vote for it. They couldn't cope with losing the income from their extra home games, and only ever possibly having 1 home game against either side of the Old Firm? No chance.
Summer football won't happen either, but that is in the best interests of the game. The League is enough of a backwater without becoming a summer League which even the Russians have moved away from, despite their winters.
I'd like to see an 18 team SPL, which would mean a 34 game League season. I'd also like to advocate for a winter break, but in reality there is no point. Our weather system is so unpredictable that we never know when the worst of the winter weather is coming.
Very pleased with that. 4-1 win over St Mirren and I'd say it was a fair reflection of the game. Sproule was exactly what I was hoping for, though I hope the majority of fans don't think he'll be doing that every week.
The new Greek left back looked very good indeed. I can't imagine he'll be staying longer than the off season because he looked so assured and showed a few flashes of brilliance.
This dates back a few years, and Charles Green is basically jumping on how the supporters feel in order to gain support.
There was an SPL game a few years ago that had to be abandoned at half time because of a waterlogged pitch, in reality the match should never have got to half time. It was announced at the game that ticket stubs would be valid for the replay. A couple of days later Dundee United changed their minds and decided that you would have to pay for the replay and no refunds would be given for the abandoned fixture.
There is a general acceptance that clubs profiteer off the Old Firm supporters, but that situation left a bad taste.
I never thought if see the day where Ross County had such a wide range to their scouting. First a Canadian playing for Houston Dynamo, then a Greek and now a German target man (which we desperately need)
I'm looking forward to seeing Brittain's free kicks with the new size we have. That was what I was most worried about to start the year because every free kick against us was lethal because we had such a small team.
Disappointed Brittain is leaving but, so long as Adams isn't poached, I fully trust we'll find a new free kick specialist. There is talk of him going to Aberdeen, but he'd be mad to. That place kills careers. He'd be better sticking to County and turning us into a mid table team, possibly better, and waiting for a Championship team to come calling.
Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hearts and Hibs need to all go to England and the let the rest become a larger version of the Welsh Premier League. Problems solved.
Jackie McNamara to be named as new Dundee United manager
He has done well for Partick Thistle
So happy that they never took Adams. Apparently Roy McGregor phoned the Dundee Utd Chairman to tell him to not even bother contacting him. Hopefully we sign him up to a new contract soon.
Oh, and Hainault finally got his work permit. The Greek left back looks a find and a half so far. It would be nice if we could start signing up our players for next season because it looks like Dundee are certs for the drop now. I'm really worried about Vigurs getting poached too. Losing Brittain is bad enough.

I would let Derek Adams do depraved things to me. I never thought I'd see the day when County would be 2 points out of a European place halfway through February. To think I used to miss the days of Division 3 because it was more interesting.
