You can never say never, but I don't think the Habs are a contender at all this year with their Center situation. It's like trying to win in football with below average qbs...
You make a good point. SF against Baltimore. Kaepernick vs Flacco. 2 new QBs to the superbowl... viva Galchenyuk ! I just think Montréal could use Iginla. I just think Montréal has the assets.

Good point. I would hope Montréal to convince him.
the flames are better than the canadiens and closer to being a playoff team
Not at all...now now and not in the future...I would take the Habs current roster over Calgary's in a NY minute...and I am sure the vast majority of people would also.....while both teams are a far way from contending, Montreal has some great young assets....Calgary is old and tired...and aside from Bart, their youth movement leaves little to be desired.....
I doubt that would make much of a difference. In any case, Iginla could just ask Cammalleri how he felt playing in Montreal.
Cammy loved playing in Montréal. Giving the new management, he wishes he were still here. Pierre Gauthier was an *******. But after Molson fired Gauthier, Molson at Cammy's request sent him an original Habs jersey number 13, with a nice apology letter.
From the Habs, I'd take Collberg, a 1st and 2nd. But I doubt Iggy would waive to go there, I'm sure he would rather stay in Calgary if that was his new destination.
I think the Pens, Kings and B's, hell maybe the Flyers would be the most likely destinations. Iggy and Giroux would be a sick tandem.
If Iggy was available, you can bet there would be a bidding war. Rival Eastern teams would be lining up to acquire his services.

I'd trade that for Iginla right now. And I'm sure he'd want to play for a winning team, for the best storied franchise in the NHL. Come on Bergevin make a move lol.

Its nothing against the Habs franchise and tradition, but I don't think anyone consider's them a true contender yet. There's a handful of teams that are and could fit Iginla in. I think the Flames are every bit as good as the Habs are this year, I do not see him waiving to go to a lateral team.

Not sure why you bother to bash on the Flames on a daily basis.

LA came in with the 8th seed last year. What does make all those US teams better ? Superstars ? It's a team game. Anyhow, that's not the point.

We're just fans. Passionate. But Bergevin, pull the trigger !
I didn't spew anything I never claimed Cammy wouldn't want to be in Montreal but its ******** to say he would rather be in Montreal then Calgary biased on your gut feeling. Its like me claiming Price would rather be in the west because I think he would (which I don't) its just ******** and makes you look retarded.
Pittsburgh would have to trade their future Dman corp. I'm awaiting for a Pens fan offer.
There was another Iginla thread, both Pens and Flames fans seemed to come up with good offers.
And really when it comes to Iginla, if he ever gets traded, I see Feaster moving him to a Eastern conference Cup contender not a Playoff contender (2 different things), and right now the only team that makes sense to me are the Pens. They have a very solid team already, and can benefit from a right handed shot like Iginla. I don't know about Boston, but you never know.
If Iginla is moved the idea (should) be:
1) Trade him to a Cup contender and get him a deserved Stanley Cup
2) Have him come back and retire a Calgary Flame
Despres/Dumoulin + Kennedy + 2013 1st + 2014 3rd Conditional on Iglina resigning in Pittsburgh. If he doesn't Pittsburgh keeps the pick.
Probably the best Pitt could put together. Would be curious to hear from a Flames fan whether that brings us close to Iginla. I suspect that the idea is right (blue chipper + roster player + 1st), but they may want a more game-ready blue chipper (Despres is game ready but not a blue chipper and Dumoulin is a blue chipper but not game ready), a better roster player (an actual bonafide 2nd liner and not a 2nd/3rd tweener like Kennedy), and a marginally higher pick.
EDIT: I keep forgetting about the UFA factor. I actually think that your package seems fair. Curious to hear from Flames fans...
