The Coach isn't changing until after the trade and a long losing streak, so expect an unprepared, unfocused team that will rely on the goaltender and sustain yet more injuries...

On a side note, when is Kesler back skating with the team? This week no?

On a sidenote, remember how Hamhuis had a groin strain during pre-season? Perhaps it's still bugging him?

I know other teams are dealing with injury issues, but it seems like every player on the team has a groin problem right now.

Part of me was sad last night, watching Lu nearly steal us the game and knowing he likely won't be with us for much longer.

I know it was their 3rd game in 4 nights but the latter half of the last period gave me flashbacks of that Chicago series when they played not to lose and how that blew up in their faces. Not a fan of that, at least try to generate some offense, the sitting back killing minutes strategy never seems to end well for this team.

Yes the Kings counter attack looked dangerous, but I'd like to see them attack more on offense, we had like 6 icings in a row at one point, that can't be a recipe for success in the long run.

Hoping for a convincing win. Would really like to see our top 4 D start playing with greater consistency and move it out of the zone with more confidence.

This will be a turn around game, I feel it in me bones.

Hopeful lineup

Sedin Sedin Kassian
Raymond Schroeder Burrows
Hansen Higgins Weise
Lapierre Malhota Vollatti

Ballard-Tanev
Hamhuis Bieksa
Edler Garrison

Another note- Ebbett-like players are a dime a dozen, why not find one that is good in the shootout? There must be dozens of highly skilled AHL players that can be money in the SO. Just a thought

The Avs are really bad without O'Reilly, Landeskog, and Downie. You guys will blow them out.

Wait...

Sensing more baby steps in this game. IMO, our key guys are looking better now than they did a week ago - so they just need to keep progressing.

Ah just perfect.

An injury ridden team, a struggling team, a young team..

The perfect recipe for the Canucks to not show up and get blown. AV better not take light of games like this and PREPARE the team.

I think we swept them last year, but the scores were nowhere near indicative of the play. We had Luongo/Schneider playing lights out...

well played

I feel the same way, I want progress, I don't expect this team to click right away (especially guys like Garrison).

Higgins and Hansen are getting back into game shape, they may not be showing up on the scoreboard yet but they are skating miles out there. Good to see.

A cakewalk? Correct me if I'm wrong, but at least last season the Avs found strange ways to lose against the Canucks despite being the faster, better team for the most part.
A lot of times we had the edge in goaltending or just pure luck.

That first period Avs vs. Sharks was scary to watch from a Canucks perspective. They are speedy, they are willing to work, and they adjust their game well to the opposition.

Kings did a good job taking away time and space. The Avs showed they are capable of doing exactly that as well. We should consider ourselves extremely lucky that they're missing key players. This is no gimme by any means.

Though I see baby steps in the right direction by the Canucks, they still don't look like they're feeling good about themselves, which worries me the most. I don't know how many more games they need to actually start clicking, but they are definitely not there yet.

Fans don't want to hear this but you're going to have to take incremental improvements from the team. They barely get to practice and most of the coaching is done through video. It's hard to get someone new like Garrison up to speed simply through watching video.

D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Kassian
Raymond - Schroeder - Burrows
Higgins - Malholtra - Hansen
Volpatti - Ebbett - Weise

Hamhuis - Edler
Garrison - Bieksa
Ballard - Tanev

Luongo

That's my lineup. Luongo has been playing better hockey than Schneider right now. We should be riding him.

We haven't lost to the Avs in regulation for a long time. Their captain, Downie and O'Reilly are also all out. This has to be a gimme.

feels like the Canucks are getting better with each game, and if we're competitive with 2 top6 fwds out I say we're doing pretty damn well.

Burr and Schroeder haven't scared me in their new roles and we have a pretty non-embarrassing 4th line for once. (Tho Lappy has to get his S together)

I'd rather have a slow start and face adversity early than have a meltdown going into playoffs!

Lu or Schnu?

I am currently biased to Lu, and I think he deserves at least the chance to win the starting job back.

IMO he's outplayed Schneider so far, but to be fair neither goalie is going to be very successful behind the crap performance our forwards and defense have put in.
