The problem with that argument is the with the shortened season he could potentially keep up a stupid high shooting percentage for a fair portion of what little season we have. Thereby fooling the hockey gods and DW and getting another massive contract in 2014

He'll have all of 2013-2014 to experience shooting percentage regression, and hopefully sign a stupidly below market contract.

You underestimate DW. One great season is plenty to sign a massive contract, even if the following season stinks.

He also didn't get outmuscled on the other play, he was caught flat footed and was knocked down by sort of a cheapshot, so he marginally grabbed the other guys stick and gets called (there's reason to be upset there, the ref could have called the other guy for charging, but didn't). I could easily pick apart the other two 2nd liners games from last night too. It seems you have much too much criticism of just one player.
Charging? Please stop making up excuses. Clowe has bad skating posture and they guy had leverage and bowled him over. He clearly grabbed his stick, not "marginally". He tripped a guy when he got a tripping penalty. He crosschecked Ballard in the back of the head because he was skating away from Clowe cause he took a bad angle, because of his poor skating. I'm all for passion, but take the passion out on the ICE and play hockey with that passion. What's the point of banging your stick against the penalty box glass repeatedly? The ONLY thing positive Clowe is bringing to this team right now is his ability to fight and protect Couture, which was necessary in the Vancouver game because they started going after Couture when they got down 2-0.

Would you guys do a Hagelin and Kreider for Clowe, Demers, 2nd deal?

I really like Demers, but I'd think long and hard about that.

If Irwin becomes a solid young puck-mover, then I think Demers can be moved especially for young talents like Hagelin and Kreider.

Marleau-Thornton-Pavelski
Hagelin-Couture-Havlat
Kreider-Gomez-Wingels
Galiardi-Desjardins-Burrish
Handzus

Vlasic-Burns
Irwin-Boyle
Stuart-Braun
Murray

I'd even be fine with flipping Murray for a guy like Read or a 2nd round pick if you want more insurance in case Kreider needs more time to develop.

I'd consider it, simply because those are two cheap, young, fast 2nd/3rd line tweeners. I worry about our chances of signing Clowe considering the cap decrease, and if we did, we'd have to have really cheap bottom-6ers.

Kreider is a pure shooter. He's not a particularly creative player, but he can fly and shoot. I'm not high on him like some are (potential 40-goal scoring predictions make me laugh) but I like to think of him as Marleau without the hockey IQ or as good hands. 25 goal guy on Couture or Thornton's wing. Hagelin is a strong forechecker and has shown decent offense.

Patty - Joe - Other Joe
Kreider - Couture - Havlat
Hagelin - Gomez - Wingels
Gali/Desi - Handzus - Burish
Sheperd

Irwin - Boyle
Vlasic - Burns
Stuart - Braun
Murray

Kreider and Hagelin are interchangeable. Irwin and Stuart are interchangeable. Vlasic and Stuart for lockdown as needed. Depth looks good.

Works for me...gives us great depth up front and keeps good depth on the backend.

There is no Burns for a while...and it's been 5 games of Irwin, he's been great but really, it's been 5 games.

I get that Clowe's is everyone's whipping boy this year, I don't agree.
If, by some miracle the NYR were interested in a Clowe for Kreider swap I'd definitely think about that.

If Irwin continues to have success this year and Demers comes in and plays well, Murray could be moved for something but I think all 8 NHL d-men the Sharks have (should Burns get healthy) will be necessary to get through this season, and then the playoffs.

I'm on the fence with Clowe. If he continues to play like Ben Eager, he should be traded. If he plays like the Ryane Clowe of old, keep him.
Wish Clowe was as fast as Eager!

Hey, Huskins is awesome. Takes the hit to make the play. Colin White takes the hit and gives it away.
