I'm sure there are much easier ways to lose a hockey game.

The hit on JT behind the net in the last game that led to a goal was entirely his fault. Tavares had his head down. That being said, I completely agree with you. It's obvious that Tavares is the main target for hits as he is the biggest threat on the Islanders but, in response, the Islanders have to play more physical then they have been.

Also, and I hate to keep playing this card but it's true, Islanders physical play usually backfires on them. Carkners hit in the last game was called for boarding, yet the hit on Tavares the other night was not called at all.

It was borderline interference. Tavares was trying to follow the puck behind the net and instead of playing the puck Burmistrov dropped a shoulder into his chest. Considering JT's only fight has been with Burmistrov, it's pretty clear the guy went out of his way to lay Johnny out. 99% of the time the player will attempt to move the puck there. Unfortunately for Johnny the 1% will be a guy who would rather lay you out then make a play(which ironically enough they scored, mainly because Hamonic decided to go after him instead of defending the net).

Wow, I didn't even realize that Burmistrov was the only fight Tavares had. That also explains why it looked like he didn't even see the hit coming. It's easy to say that Tavares should be more aware knowing that he will be the main target of hits like that, but like you said 99 out of a 100 times the puck will be played in that situation.

I don't know how I feel about this game. We either play a great game or get blown out no middle ground

You can pretty much copy and paste this in any GDT against our division. As well as many other teams...

I know there is still a lot of concern for the Islanders roster but I have to say that I am pleased with their start.

Game 1: Loss to the Devils - Devils are off to a great start, they have not lost in regulation yet and the Islanders made it a close game only losing 2 to 1.

Game 2: Win against Tampa Bay - The Lightning have also started off well, they are 4-1, their only loss to the Islanders

Game 3: Win against Toronto - Impressive come from behind win, scoring 5 unanswered goals.

Game 4: Loss to the Bruins - Another great team to start off the year, Boston is 4-0-1 and have not lost in regulation yet. Islanders were tied going to the third period.

Game 5: OT Loss to Winnipeg - Islanders did not play well, yet they were tied at the end of regulation. Winnipeg also off to a solid 3-1-1 start with some impressive wins.

Game 6: WIN?

To me the Islanders have started off better then most have expected. If you look at their record it's middle of the pack. But as I look at it game-by-game I am very pleased with their start. Most importantly, knock on wood, they have been in every game so far.

Why is it that everytime we're on national TV we always play dominant teams?

Not looking forward to this game.

Yeah, that truly is shocking given the fact we're such a draw on a national level.

Because the NHL needs a bottom-feeder to play a powerhouse so Crosby, Malkin, etc can put on a show for ratings.

He'sa Ranger now so we can rule that out. Maybe we can loan Gillies from his KHL team for a game

If I was a national provider I would much rather have Islanders/Rangers then Islanders/Penguins. Chances are you will get a much better game

"but it's not like we're getting killed out there every night" said Charles Wang. LOL sorry had to. But I also feel the team has been competitive, I just feel they have talent but need to learn how to win. A good veteran FA could help with that- HMMmmmm...

By no means is this an unwinnable game.

Hoping we are competitive is not good enough.

Go out and beat a good team
