Several big leaguers in Miami clinic's PED notes, Yankees trying to void A-Rod deal
"Major League Baseball is gathering and reviewing information regarding Tuesday's report in the Miami New Times that linked at least seven Major Leaguers to performance-enhancing substances via a recently closed clinic in Miami, but also expressed confidence that the developments demonstrate the scope of the sport's anti-doping efforts."
A-Rod, Cruz, Gio Gonzalez, Melky, Colon are few of the names that look to be on the list.
Gonzalez tweeted: "I've never used performance-enhancing drugs of any kind and I never will. I've never met or spoken with Tony Bosch or used any substance provided by him. Anything said to the contrary is a lie."
Of course everyone will deny it, but do you really believe in any of the players now?

This could be a blessing in disguise for the Yankees. Suppose A-Rod can't talk his way out of it, the Yanks would send his ass as far away from the team as possible. But most likely he won't admit to anything and they're stuck with him for 5 more years.
They won't be able to void his deal. It would be an unbelievably big break, though, considering the Yankees are now slashing payroll and adhering to a budget. A-Rod's contract is nothing but a massive anvil hanging over the franchise right now.
You don't have to be a cheater to have a breakout season like Gonzalez. Let's give a player the benefit of the doubt before we start the witchhunt. After all, in a democracy, you are presumed innocent before proven guilty.
Of course, as Deadspin points out, Ray Lewis is on film asking for the exact same drugs that A-Rod, Cabrera, and Gonzalez are accused of taking -- but the media is almost as busy fawning over him as it is accusing A-Rod of once again ripping apart America's moral fabric.
While I won't join in the "Alex Rodriguez is history's greatest monster" campaign, I also won't pretend that I wouldn't love it if the Yankees could void his awful contract over this mess.
if in the process of the bosch investigation the MLB finds enough evidence that A-rod was using a banned substance while a yankee before he signed the new contract, even though they wont have a positive test, i think they yankees could have a case, but it's going to be really hard to prove and will involve a lot of litigation.

We have no idea how much the Yankees knew about AROD's PED use. If he goes on the stand and testifies that Cashman asked to be kept up to date on his PED use then we have armageddon.

Even when he was "healthy" he wasn't producing at all, and that's on the rare times that he is healthy. The Yankees should start thinking about the future at 3rd
If you told me A-Rod would get so bad that his team would try to void his contract back when he played for the Mariners/Rangers, I would laugh in your face. It's astonishing how bad he has become.

To be fair, he came as close to living up to the contract that the Rangers signed him to as anyone could reasonably hope. It was the Yankees' extension that has become an epic disaster.
Well what I meant was if you told me that he was eventually going to sign an extension with the Yankees that they would eventually try to void, I would have not believed it.

I doubt they will have a case. Nobody else has had their contract voided, and and union will go absolutely ******* if anybody tried.

I think he was still a slightly above-average player last season, but he should only continue to deteriorate moving forward. From the day A-Rod signed this contract in 2007, there was no doubt it was going to become an albatross at some point. For it to happen this soon is disastrous for the suddenly budget-conscious Yankees.
