Why David Fischer elected not to play in USHL

I appologize if this information was previously posted! Many people are bashing the Habs for drafting Fischer but I have a strange feeling he will one day play in the NHL!

Fischer, this year's Mr. Hockey, acknowledges that had he elected to play his senior season in the USHL his game probably would be more refined and doubts about his game might have been erased.

"My decision wasn't all about me," Fischer said. "I wanted to stick around for my senior year and be a captain and a leader of the team. Also, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer at the beginning of the year and there was no way I was going to leave her."
