One thing that is concerning is that part of the Flyers thoughts when they let Jagr and Carle and did not trade Schenn / Couter is that the young guys - Couter, Schenn, Vora (especially him) and Giroux would improve and take the Flyers to the next level.
But they don't seem to be stepping up. I would say that the Flyers biggest need is a sniper, not a #1 D (which is extremely hard to find). With Hartnell out it becomes even worse.
The Flyers should be going after a sniper free agent wing next year rather than chase their tails with the latest OEL, Subban, what have you pining away.
1000th post. Yay. I enjoy the discourse of this group. I was around for the last Cups and I sure hope I can be cheering for the one to come... whenever it may be.
Everyone here needs to take a step back. Flyers have had one of the toughest schedules so far, not to mention a lot of bad luck (e.g. two goals called back against the Sabres). There's a home stand coming up with 4 extremely winnable games (Canes twice and the two Florida teams). If the Flyers can't make any hay out of that, that's when you push the panic button.
Do people not realize that with the new CBA, a team can't simply tank? There will be a lottery for the bottom 15 teams, so even if we came dead last in the league we still could end up with a #16 draft pick.
It's still weighted. Well get the 2nd pick either way. At least this draft will be deeper than the one in 2007.
Harts out, Mez out, Briere just getting back etc all have a part in this folks........Just gotta keep working and working some more.We have actually had some damn good chances tonight but just have not cashed in.......Granted, we absolutely need to shoot more, i have been saying that since early last season.
Hey Lavi...why dont you take the Flyers out on a field trip. That should help them execute your system and special teams
hahahahahaha. they were talking about how there is no time to work practice in with their hectic schedule, sorry guys but when your team has close to the worst pp and Pk, and only have 5 goals in 5 games( not counting Florida) you make freaking time. or you get fired. its that simple.
There is enough talent on this team to be competitive every game. They just need to stop all the passing and trying to set up the pretty goal. When you have a 5 on 3and throw pass after pass after pass you will never score. Remember "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take". Wayne Gretsky
If they continue to play this way then Lavy should get the can.
