This Philadelphia Team Is Really Bad

I know it's early in the season but they look horrible. Briere and Bryzgalov were the only ones to show up tonight. Bryz has been borderline amazing in his last 3 or 4 games and the only reason the scores were close.

They have absolutely no offense unless playing a team without a first line (Florida) and can't break the puck out of their zone. Giroux has been terrible so far and played his worst game as a Flyer tonight. Briere should have gotten the C before Giroux did. He doesn't seem like he can handle it.

The defense hasn't been bad but it hasn't been good either. I don't know if Lavi needs to go or what. The young guys aren't stepping up and Couturier hasn't looked nearly as good as he did last year. Simmonds and Bryzgalov have been the only consistent ones.

What does this team need to do? They come out flat every single game and then seem like they quit once they get down until it's the end of the game.

They are playing like its the first day of practice in Early September

No one knows what the hell to do

Bad turnovers everywhere

No creativity on offense

Thank God Bryz decided to show up this year or we would be getting blown out every game.

We gave the rangers about 3 breakaways off of turnovers

Their defense looks ridiculously bad. Did Holmgren not get the memo that you need mobile puck movers to start the transition game? They really need to get some help back there.

I guarantee the Flyers don't suck as bad as the Pens, the most overrated team in the league bar none.

He didn't do it on purpose. If he tried injuring him, he would have thrown punches instead of letting up

And no

Shockingly, D and goaltending hasn't been our problem.

Our offense is terrible and the PP is worse.

It really hasn't been bad. They've only allowed a ridiculously low number of 5 on 5 goals.

They have one of the worst power plays I've ever seen. It was pretty damn good last year but the 5-on-3 was the worst one I've ever seen from them. They just did perimeter passing the entire time and didn't shoot it. The Rangers defenders didn't even have to do anything except stand there. I don't know if that's a coaching problem or what. I like Lavi but I don't know how much longer he's going to be kept around. The slow start problem existed when Stevens was still the coach though so I really don't know where the blame goes.

I've seen most of your games, and the transition game is nowhere to be found, at least IMO.

The transition game from the defensive zone and even neutral zone has been horrific. I don't know if you'd blame that on the defense or offense or what but it's flat out been bad. The actually defensive play hasn't been shabby except for the atrocious penalty kill. Special teams are killing the Flyers but their offense can't get going when it's 5-on-5 either.

Well the transition is bad. The actual defending from the dmen is fine though.

Thought they had future HOFer B Schenn on their #1 line?

You have 3 wins and going to be 3 losses. We are 2-5 with only 14 goals scored in 7 games (it would be 7 goals in 6 games if you don't count Florida) and given up 20 goals in the same time.

You can have JVR back for both Schenns. He's scored 3 goals thus far.

Was really surprised by Bryz's play as a Rangers fan. The d wasnt too bad, grossman is their best d by far imo. The offense is woefully inept though. So surprising after watching them last year. Theres no flow to the offense whatsoever, and Giroux looks lost out there.

**** that. We're actually fine with Luke. And hfboards thought this trade would suck for both teams.

The defense has been good, but you're right...there's no transition game without Carle. Timonen is the best we have, and he's going downhill with age.

Anyone have a video of when Briere fell down like a sack in water in the last couple of seconds? Lying on the ice in pain and then gets right up and joins the play after a few seconds of not drawing a penalty.

Defense playing defense isn't the problem. The transition to offense with the defense is a problem. We only really have one real PMD and that's Timonen, who is getting up there in age. So we get trapped in our own zone too much.
