There should not be a limit on the amount of times a player shoots in a shootout

I just don't think casual fans find it exciting to watch Henrik Talinder on a shootout attempt. Superstars going head-to-head is much more entertaining.

And serious fans don't like watching shootouts is exciting at all. It trivializes the game. So, let's keep it as team oriented as possible and have everyone on the team shoot.

Edit - You did post it, just not reasonably. If you have an idea, keep the entire idea in one post. It's basic forum etiquette.

Basically tells himself exactly why they don't allow the same player to go every.single.time. It's just stupid. Shootouts would turn into "who has the best shootout player" more than it already is (who has the best set of shootout players). It's a collective effort by the players and the goalie to pull through. The shootout is already stupid let's not extend that.

What's wrong with defencemen taking the shots?

Yeah i don't like shootouts. But i fail to see the need to limit a shooters attempts. By that logic, why not make them switch goalies every shot as well?

Okay right now the shootout is about "who has the best shootout goalie" would you want to make them switch goalies so it's about "who has the best set of shootout goalies"?

I'm not. I would like to see the game expand/become more appealing though. especially since the rule makes no sense.

Everyone's entitled to have at least one crazy idea. You've got yours, no need to convince everybody... It's not like you're in charge of the NHL and got a decision to take.

Yes it is idiotic. "let's make the shootout an even worse farce than it already is"

thread concept makes about as much sense as saying both goalies must shoot in the shootout. or the coach. or the trainers

Letting multiple players shoot is a way better format.

Well international hockey sucks, so let's not steal ideas from them.

Such a terrible idea, though.
