Yes if they threw it at Seguin I'm sure he'd get a mulligan too, great point yeti the flow

Usually in situations like these, the home team is responsible for their home crowd (regardless if it was a Devil or Bruins fan who threw it).

Wouldn't be unfair to penalize only the home team for that. If it was during the away team's attempt, should be a re-shoot.

Still it affected only seguin, as hedberg didnt Even see it.

We should all be thankful that seguin is a shootout wizard, otherwise this incident may have had an impact on the outcome of the game.

One more thing I didnt like in that shootout was Rask's pokecheck attempt, not even close to the puck and he tripped Zajac. I think they should review the rules on that one...and I am not being a sore loser, we didnt even deserve to make it into overtime, but that shootout was a disaster.

Hedberg doesn't have peripheral vision?

Affected both of them..

Did you read the post you quoted? You disagreed with what you just responded to me with. You can't decide who the target was. It's irrelevant. It's a mulligan regardless, if they're able to. Otherwise it's not fair. So, yes. Great point, me.

He got the puck first though, and once he touches the puck, (stops it from going towards the net), the shootout attempt is over.

Ok I will rewatch it, the MSG replays showed him missing the puck entirely but I'll check it out again.

EDIT: yup he missed the puck, the rules on that should be looked at. Why cant we just have a ten minute overtime!

He forced the shooter to lose the puck before making contact with him. It's perfectly legal. Also, there is a thread about it.

if he missed it wouldn't have been a re-do considering it was thrown at hedberg

if he missed and it was thrown at seguin it would have been a re-do

not hard is it

How do you know who it was thrown at? That's the point. You can't make that call. Had Seguin missed, and they didn't redo the attempt, it wouldn't have been just. There is absolutely no way to argue it is.

He lost control of the puck before he was tripped, and also remember that on breakaways it took Hasek to cause someone to do a flip for it to be called a trip, everything else was fine.

EDIT: I agree with the 10 minute OT though.

Ok makes sense now, never really looked into the rules on that one. I use to love the shootout but every year it becomes more annoying. I just do not understand why the NHL doesnt go with a ten minute 4 on 4 format. So many more games will end before a SO.

It was an obvious reference to Seguin's living habits. The fan just wanted to see if Seguin's learned to clean for himself.

So you're going to base whether a professional sport has a rule based on a fan's aim?

I use the term fan loosely, obviously. No actual fan of the sport would attempt to disrupt it in such a fashion.
