- Kovalchuck is ridiculous in the shootout.

What rule is there against a goalie just sliding out and tripping a guy on the shootout, like Rask did?
That did not look like a poke check to me.

In typical Penguins fashion, watch them come in here and suddenly look like the '84 Oilers

Haha the first time I saw it I thought it was the hockey goalie equivalent of a slide tackle. But the replay showed he touched the puck first before anything else. Still, that was a weird move by Rask.

Reminds me of the Hasek slide tackle on Gaborik years ago. Man, Gaborik FLEW on that one.

I looked at it again, and you are right.
Smart thinking by Rask "I'll get the puck, but if I don't I wipe him out anyway".
It just looked so ultra-aggressive, and way beyond what I normally see in a shootout.

So, lol. Larsson still hasn't played a game for NJ yet this year. Healthy scratch in all of their games.

I thought this guy was supposed to be better than Staal this year?

I'm dying to see the guy play already, as are most Devils fans. Majority seem to think that Tallinder will be traded eventually for some top 9 forward help. I just can't imagine them sitting Larsson much longer (then again, you never know).

Sure practicing and traveling with the team can help, but wouldn't it be better for Larsson to play 30+ minutes down in Albany to at least be in game shape/experienced in time for his call up? In the mean time, the Devils also have Harrold who is a great #6-7 guy waiting in the pressbox.

Greene-Fayne
Salvador-Zidlicky
Volchenkov-Tallinder
Harrold

Yeah, it's really tough to say what's going through Lou's mind right now. The defense has been very good early on, allowing just 8 goals in 5 games. It's funny because Deboer said before the season started that the team has big plans for Larsson this year. Maybe he's been getting lap dances up in the press box every game. The team is in desperate need of some top 9 forward help. Henrique will be back soon but there's still need for one more. Hoping that comes via acquisition with Tallinder going the other way.

It's a head-scratcher, but you can't argue with Lou's pedigree. He probably knows what he's doing.

Leave it to dom in a 5-0 game...

Lucky I guess that Marian didn't land on his head. I remember that one pretty clearly.

Players age fast... Gaborik is 30 now unreal.

If they aren't going to play him, just send him down. He was scratched most (all?) of the playoffs. They obviously don't trust him right now.

lol those commentators were unbelievable. hasek skates 15 feet out of the crease and sprawls on the ice taking out gabs legs and they are shocked a trip was called.

Yeah, rewatching that clip when I posted it I remember thinking when it happened (and still today) that that had to be one of the most severe cases of jock riding I'd ever heard from professional commentators. Seriously? At one point they say "I mean, what was he (Hasek) supposed to do?" Um, gee, I don't know... stay in the net and play ****ing goalie? As if the slide tackle is the normal, expected way for goalies to play a breakaway or something. Really annoyed me.
