Probably an interim coach from within the organization (painfully -- a I think the system is just as much to blame as the coach who is insisting on using it), but I'd like to believe someone new with a new set of assistants. Marc Crawford maybe on a short term deal. If we make a nice playoff run with him, sign him 2 years, if not find a replacement in the summer. Not easy but he has to try something new. Someone with prior head coaching experience.

I don't think Maurice will leave the KHL otherwise he'd be an option.

I'm asking Dave King if he wants one more run. And, then I'm asking Rick Tocchet to be one of his assistants, and Tom Fitzgerald for a favor again.

At least I'll know with King that if the Pens are going down, then they'll go down swinging with Sid and Geno, rather than roll, stretch, chip, chase, recycle.

Jaded, this was the final two periods of the Toronto game that was Therrien's last redux.

I would call Dale Hunter and try to get him to come back to the NHL. Caps were kinda of a similar team to what the pens are now and he turned them around.

The Pens are a better team with better top end talent that's committed to playing in all areas of the ice.

Can't agree with this. What Hunter did was turn every game into a coinflip. It's better than what was going on under Boudreau's last days, but not really something you're looking for if you're chasing championships.

In that case, you'd have stars buying into what Hunter has to say instead of fighting him all the way.

And create other ones.

Then again, I remember like 5-6 years ago, when Keenan was part of the Versus studio, the host asked how he'd coach Crosby and Malkin. And, someone, maybe Keith Jones chirped 'he'd play them both 25 minutes a night and take his chances' or something like that.

this is what i've always wondered about. in the era of the salary-cap, coaching is the one area where rich teams can overpay for the best coaches available. Burkle could afford to have Shero assemble a team of HOF coaches, but we're probably going the get the next guy up from WBS, which is what we did last time (hey, he got us a cup but that's not the point).

I meant similar as far as the country club atmosphere that i think both teams had/have.

Yeah, totally aware of the cons with Keenan. I'm sure that's why he coached 100 different teams at this point. Neither him or Crawford are attractive options, but they are the only ones. *assuming you are looking outside the organization*

Dave King is sitting in Phoenix right now (moved to a pro personnel position there).

Keenan would help for a time but I think he'd quickly lose the team for reasons opposite Bylsma. It's not a great option but I think Crawford is the guy I'd call if I was Shero. He had some good years in Vancouver, I think he could at least give us a new look and get us competitive again to carry us into the playoffs and hopefully a decent run. For sure he's a better tactician than Bylsma / has more tricks up his sleeve.

Still prefer King to Crawford, but will admit that with Crawford, we wouldn't suffer from a lack of attitude.

Amen!
Maybe it is time to bring back my old signature: There's no cap on coaching.

Indeed it is! Thanks. Avatar change time also.

I recommend going with Kevin 'All is well' Bacon from Animal House.
