This guy... wow, is he ever fun to watch. I love it when other players are going down his wing and I can just project where he's going with a "Look out." Sure enough, BOOM. Every time.

Evander was not happy with him tonight, and rightly so. Emelin made him look bad twice, and he's a strong lad too.

I was really young when Craig Ludwig was playing, but I remember how his hits were always punishing, hard, but clean. For some reason he reminds me of him a bit. Really starting to like this guy. I find he doesn't go for the big hit as much, more focused on retaining position, but he's refining it to an art-form. Looks much, much more in control. And man, just an intimidating player to go in the corner against.

Not a fan of Evander Kane for whatever reason...I loved that hit.

I'm loving this guy. He was shaky last year when he started. Which was normal. Too bad fans expected so much out of him from the get go. But over the season, he really improved. And now, so far, even with the few games played, he's clearly worth all the hype.

Anybody knows if they're already selling Emelin habs t-shirts in dark blue? Please I need to know. If yes, i'll have my cousin buy it for me at bell centre and ship it here in Alberta.

Emelin rocks, man.

Hopefully Emelin is a good student cause he's got a tremendous teacher in Markov and a great opportunity to learn and grow his game.

This guy doesn't deserve enough credit. He was a little bit shaky last season but he's gain much more confident this season, thanks to Markov. Already better than prime Komisarek IMO. I hope MT gives him some PP on the 2nd unit tho. He has a decent shot and some offensive potential.

Prime Komi was pretty good until Lucic broke his spirit and his shoulder....

But Emelin is quicker and definitely a better hitter than Komi. They both can hit hard, but Emelin can deliver open ice hits with players in movement since he's much quicker on his feet and a much quicker skater. Komi hits hard too, but more along the boards or players that are not in movement.

yups leading the nhl baby!!!with 28 hits, for me he's an artist in his own way, he delivers beautiful and pain full bodychecks + he's enjoying his hockey at the moment along marky
Kane will remember the name after today's game.

Emelin is a monster hitter. He's an animal no wonder why they keep him in a cage!

Easily one of my fav players, he hits so hard and is overall pretty reliable.. I would try to extend him as soon as possible.. A keeper for years to come..

Besides the hits, he's playing very good overall..a few weak moments tonight but way more good shifts, and he's more comfortable with the puck than he was last year.

But I hope the hits keep coming. And the hits aren't just style points like with some big hitters, it comes so natural for him that he can take guys out like it's nothing. I hope Evander Kane packed advil.

8 hits! great stuff!

so happy markov is back. He will really help Emelin progress and grow.

we can already see the difference. he had a nice little move to bring the puck up the ice at one point. he playing heavy minutes and doing well.

looking forward to more development!

What is known about his game is hitting, but he has so many underrated, untapped qualities that can become top notch as well.

Exceptional skater for his size. Very fluid and powerful. Great agility and coordination. Looks like he could have been a figure skater if he so desired.

Very powerful slap shot.

Accurate, heads up passer.

With time he can become so much better at all of these things. That is, his use and timing of them.

Personally I feel his positioning and decision making on the ice has improved more than anything this year. That has to be largely due to Markov's ability to point out minor details and communicate to him when to step up or retract, etc.

Very encouraged. Looks like he has become what Hamrlik was for us.

Even last year I thought his decision making in terms of when to go for the big hit was always great. He never puts his team in a bad position when going for the big hit, he always ensures there's a forward backchecking, or the opponent is by himself. Not too mention he almost never misses the hit.

He's progressed a lot since the start of last year and is a presence that we sorely need on our blue line. Love watching him play. Players will start to avoid going down that side of the ice if they don't want to be hit.

He's been a rock defensively so far and done a good job moving the puck. I would take another Emelin any day(ok he may be bigger and named Tinordi).

Would be nice if MM can get him and Diaz extended for 2-3 years this summer(after July 1st). Emelin 3 years at 2.75/year. Diaz 3 years at 2.5/year. Obviously if both keep playing as they ahve so far those numbers go up.

dammit, Im guessing Diaz will be UFA too?
If they continue playing like this, doubt we can resign both of them.

I think he'll get some time on the PP with either P.K. or Markov once Kraperle is out of the lineup.
