After the time out that was called and Bylsma screaming at the players like a little girl with no change in effort from the drop of the puck to the end of the game.

I think it is abundantly clear that Dan has lost that room and the team... it's all such a mess.

Dan Bylsma is the Roberto Di Matteo of hockey. Except that Di Matteo was fired from his Chelsea job and Bylsma hasn't been yet.

Does Bylsma play goaltender? If answer is no, then he is not the Pen's problem. Pen's have given up on MAF and so have I. I think the players are tired of him saving <80% of the shots too.

The Pens problems go beyond goaltending.

They extend to coaching.

You cannot say 'if we had better goaltending, then the coaching would be better' any more than you can say 'if we had better coaching, then the goaltending would be better'.

They are mutually exclusive problems. But, the existence of one does not mean turning a blind eye towards the other.

At what point does Pittsburgh's record begin to put them in legitimate jeopardy of missing the post season? I realize it's not enjoyable watching them at the moment, and Bylsma is extremely frustrating, but the team is still 3-3. Would hypothetical consecutive loses to the Rangers, Devils, and Capitals activate "panic mode"?

Anyway, on the topic of coaching preferences, I really like Dale Hunter despite the probability of Hynes just being promoted. I think there could be a serious look at him with our better prospects playing for London and thus the organization familiarity. That could be just wishful thinking on my part.

Hynes would be a mistake because you don't need a coach to come in a loosen the chains of a fired disciplinarian. You need someone to come in and re-introduce structure and discipline to a team that has gone back to this organization's country club days.

In terms of record, you need to be a minimum of .500 in a month, or it's panic time.

They fired Therrien on the road. Bylsma drove from WBS to the Island, I believe, to coach his first game.

Bylsma always does that fake zen buddhist thing where he talks slowly and softly, taking time to contemplate his answers. The difference tonight was even after he started answered he could stop, stutter, search for more to say, start again. I think he was a little lost after this game. Yay!

I think so, yeah. As a .500 team right now Bylsma is on extremely thin ice. A mini losing streak could be the end of him given the short season.

Like I said, Ray was PISSED last year after that playoff series. I've never heard him more angry. I honestly don't think he'll be as patient as he's been in the past, either with Bylsma or the team. I expect a change of some kind in the next week or two if things continue the way they are. Whether that's a trade or Bylsma gone or both, we'll have to wait and see.

Exactly the 4 past years of horrible post season joke hockey, and a guy who has lost the room. The writing is on the wall. He needs to go.
