For example, at the start of the year there were a few saying it'd be okay to waive Drewiske, but if it was attempted now there's little doubt he'd get snatched up by another club looking for capable depth. The case is probably true with Muzzin as this point as well.

So say that Mitchell is back in the lineup. Now you've potentially got Campbell, Drewiske, and Muzzin all on the roster with decisions needing to be made on who stays and who goes.
If need be, we could likely send Drewiske to someone for a pick. Or we could just keep him up, we have the cap space this year.

If we HAD to waive someone it'd likely be Drewiske as he's a UFA after the season so we're likely going to lose him anyways.

Prokhorkin and Vey are solid forward prospects in addition to Pearson and Toffoli. If anything we're more thin on D and Goaltending.

Also, I don't think Sutter would have any problem playing Kozun/Pearson as long as they were effective. ( I don't think Kozun will be an NHL player though)

Linden Vey is leading the Monarchs in Points, and can play all three forward positions.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Vey made the Kings roster next year.

Slopel was so slow during the Hawks playoff run a few years ago. I can only imagine how slow he is now.

A skilled winger like a Hossa or Eriksson would be more suitable for the top six. The Kings were hoping they were going to get that type of contribution from Simon Gagne, but he's done.
Looking at the UFA's for 2013, it's pretty bare.

That might take some time. Has management determined which dumpster Sopel is rummaging through?

Can't say that is very enticing... I know Dean is looking for something extra cheap, but that's just too cheap. He's been playing in the KHL though, has a recent cup ring, and while not great, hasn't been abysmal.

His wife has a blog and recently said that he is returning from Russia with hopes of opening a hockey school: http://lifeofahockeywidow.typepad.com/

Strange. Regarding veteran D, that name came into my head about 24 hours ago. I quickly asked myself "what am I thinking and why?", then dismissed the crazy notion.

If I'm channeling Dean, I hope Dean's not confused!!!

Honestly, I thought he was fine when he was here and if we're just talking about adding someone to eat 10 minutes a game as a #7 until Willie and Greene are back, I'm ok with it. Could think of worse players to add, especially in the locker room.

A Hawks-fan buddy of mine praised Sopel for the time he spent there. He was a real horse on the PK. Logged significant minutes at that, doing a pretty good job blocking shots etc. It's been a couple of years though, whether he'd be up to it now at 36, I dont know.

This would be a god send.

If we're looking at ex-Kings, what about Kyle Quincey? He'd be cheap, and he's been solid the past few years. I've always liked his play, he's a reliable 3-4 defenseman.

Yeah, Sopel was more than servicable on a roster made to lose... He certainly isn't the worst option. Are there better ones? Sure. But if Sopel can bring the same game as his first stop here I wouldn't complain.
