Tarasenko's been a beast at all level of hockey so far in his career.

Watching him this season - I know it's early - but he reminds me so much of Ovechkin in his rookie year, just not as good of-course...Which is no knock on Tarasenko because Ovy was one of the most skilled players to come into the NHL in a while. But regardless, he's slim, fast, has a great release, and skilled with the puck. He's had a great start and hopefully he can keep it up! Became one of my favorite prospects during the 2011 WJC.

Tarasenko is a nice young player, but you don't want to burn him out too quick. The best course of action would be to healthy scratch him every time the Blues play the Wild. That would keep him fresh for the other games.

Just so we're all clear .... NO NEED to play Tarasenko against Minnesota.

Please God don' t play him, we don't have a chance as it is, but if you play him the Wild might lose by double digits.

No way!
We'd not sit Tarasenko just to have The Wild sit Parise! Tarasenko scores a goal per game! Let them both play and watch Frank beat either of their goalies, without help from his linemates. He's a scoring machine!

I hope Tarasenko doesn't get a big head after his early season scoring streak

(snapped this picture behind the net the Blues shoot at twice tonight)

Wonder if he'll have another game like his debut game after this 3 day break?

All jokes aside...I think he should be referred to as Vladimir "The Russian Terror" Tarasenko.

4. The St. Louis Blues' Vladimir Tarasenko is the only NHL rookie among the top-10 fantasy players -- he's ranked seventh. He's also the only forward with five games of recording a plus rating.

I guess Tarasenko will be on Kessel level productivity (or even higher) in a season or two. But Kessel will never be as good in two-way play.

someone proposed that crap kessel thing on the main board.

i was lucky to get in at post 3 or 4 to say that Tarasenko is better than Kessel right now, so why would STL want to downgrade. not to mention older and a worse cap hit.

they could throw in gardiner and whoever else, but you just don't trade rare talents like Tarasenko. they are the guys you build teams around. guys like Tarasenko make UFA want to sign with you so they can play with that dude.

Tarasenko has huge worth past just his game and points. imho

UFAs... like Kessel will be after next season and Tarasenko won't be while he starts outscoring him. For Kessel's contract we could actually pay for a top pairing d-man... everything about acquiring him seems like a terrible idea.

This is baloney. You completely ignore the fact of him being on ELC relative to the projected productivity. I'm sure you think its just Blues fans being homers, but any team would be stupid to make this trade with a star rookie player. Even as a rental for an all-in Cup run, it would be foolish.

STL has legit scoring threats. They don't need Kessel on any level. I may be proven wrong one day, but I just don't see a team who needs Kessel being a team to win the cup. That is no knock on the Leafs, I just don't see Kessel in a good light. Great regular season guy for fantasy stats...

Maybe when Kessel is in his prime and learns the game more, but right now he offers the Blues nothing they don't have.

Stewart, Berglund, Oshie, Backes, Andy McD can all score goals and Perron and Tarasenko have that game breaking scoring ability.

How many teams have that?

Anyway, this is silly of me to even post more on it in the Frank thread.
