Lindy's "system" lost that game.

Just like when playing with a 1 or 2 goal lead, while the score is tied and he's telling the forwards to not forcheck, D to not pinch, etc. It hasn't worked for years and still doesn't. These forwards are better when they can forecheck and push the plays.

Team toughness shouldn't mean defensive team turtling when the points are on the line during a tie game.

When you're playing scared to lose, you're playing hesitant to win.

When you play to avoid an L you won't win many games.

My fear remains that they'll try to eek into 8th and wind up 9/10/11 and yet again miss out on a high-end prospect. The longer it takes to re-trench and actually build something, the longer this mediocrity will continue.
I'll continue to believe that the worst thing to happen to this franchise was the timing of the Pegula purchase...

Oh and I finally had the chance to listen to RJ last night.

He's gotta go, I know he's a legend, but that call for Grigorenko was probably the worst I've ever heard. '

He didn't even sound happy we scored, let along the fact that is was Grigs who scored it.

Wow. Easy there. If anyone doesn't sound happy, its you.

I think he didn't know who scored until well after the goal. In fact, neither broadcast knew who scored until Foligno got off of him.

Judging by your comments in the GDT, you weren't too happy with the way things were going either. I'm guessing RJ wasn't as well. There's a lot of frustration going on.

Calling for the announcers retirement for a mediocre goal call isnt necessary.

Glad to see the sort of mentality that lead to Bertuzzi-Moore still lives on.

I'm not sure what they're doing at the top any longer. It certainly isn't putting an entertaining product on the ice -- this town would embrace a team that plays tough, even if they suck at hockey. They've done it before. It's possible they could use that as a tranisitional model, but not with Ruff as the coach. There's nothing there, no fire, nothing to bring forth competition. He just seems dead and the players follow his erstwhile leadership.

I agree Chain. I went to an Amerks game in early January, before the lockout ended. The effort there was the same effort I saw out of the current Sabres team. Last year, they were hard working, and willing to dig in the corners. The Sabres coaching staff has to have something to do with this poor effort. I'm not sure where else it could be coming from.

Do you blame me? This team blows. I'm sick of driving from rochester to watch them piss away games to crappy hockey teams.

Regarding RJ... Calm down there killer.

I just dont think the guy has it anymore. Go back and listen to the entire call again. He seemed so clueless on the entire sequence. He wasn't even really into Weber going after Brown either. Sorry man, the guy just doesn't seem that into it.

I think he sounded like he was still recovering from the flu or whatever he had. That Sylvester guy should only be allowed in the broadcast booth if he's cleaning it up after the game.

RJ's call on Grigo's call was bad, buttt equally hilarious. Hilarious enough that I watched it more than a few times.

Love it.

Although not the most talented team, Toronto is easily one of the hardest working teams in the league. In all fairness maybe you should pick teams that sure fire bets to lose.

RJ spend time in the hospital, and days on bed rest on doctor's orders.

AT 70 YEARS OLD.

Complaining about not losing his mind on one goal call is pretty damn offensive.

Now that I'm over the seething rage the sabres put me into every other night.

I really like Stafford's game tonight. Pommers was solid as always, and Myers played really well IMO. I didn't notice Weber out there, Brennan was a non-factor offensively.

Sorry to offend you.

If he isn't in the right state of mind then perhaps he should consider retirement; maybe for his own sake.

Besides making some quality trades, there's really only two routes this team can take:

1) Continue the way we are currently. This nets us a draft pick that will likely be worthy of a top talent. However, this option quite frankly sucks because, well, who wants to see a team that sucks out on the ice?

2) Can Ruff. Make some quality moves. See what happens.

What happens when you get a top pick though?

3rd line and bench him in the 3rd period in favor of Matt Ellis?

Top pick or not, this team isn't going anywhere with Lindy Ruff in chage of his development.
