Marc Andre Fleury

I am tired of waiting for all that potential to connect consistently.

The Pens have a lack at forward that is obvious and few tradeable assets anyone would pony up anything significant for. We can ride Vokoun for the next couple of years.

So, you fans of teams with no number 1 goalie... and a bit of patience, bring it.
I assume my fellow Pens fans have spammed this board hard enough that everyone knows what we need and do not need coming back. Your current backup will be considered a throw in.

While I get that you are just trying to gauge value, he has a limited no-trade clause. For a goalie, that is effectively a full no trade clause.

Anyway, treat it as a hypothetical then.... for kicks.

He imploded last year in the playoffs as bad as I've ever seen. He can really be a mess between the pipes for a guy that on occasion can also look as good as anyone. I think his value has to be pretty low. I'd put the following goalies ahead of him right now, not in terms of value but performance:

In no particular order
1.Quick
2.Lundqvist
3.Rask
4.Price
5.Schneider
6.Luongo
7.Niemi
8.Nabokov
9.Rinne
10.Anderson
11.Howard
12.Halak
13.Crawford
14.Brodeur
15.Lehtonen
16.Pavelec
17.Lindback

How does anyone see a goalie go side to side that much and blame the goalie? Once he knows he has someone backdoor on every play, he tries to start playing the pass too and things just break down from there.

Ik what you're saying but Riemer with 3.05 GAA and .907 sv% compared to Schneider's 3.13 GAA and .897 sv %, he should easily be included over Schneider.

Hmmm... I should probably jumpstart this thread again after a couple of wins. This panda is off to cut itself a little more.

He's basically the best player on the team right now - and fittingly, the way things are going, the only one that gets benched - and we want to trade him? Open up yet another hole in the lineup?

I'll never get it I guess...

I'd rather make a trade around Bylsma/Steigy/Errey for Gulutzan/Strangis/Razor ...what do the Pens have to add? Olli Maatta?

For the reasons you posted in the OP, regardless of any no movement clause he may have, you're not going to get much for him. He's always been an average goalie at best and it's not as if there's a market for goalies or anything.

Just be glad you have Vokoun there. I said it before and I'll say it again, I think Vokoun will be the Pens starter come playoff time.

One's in bold I have the biggest problem with. Despite the meltdown in the playoffs last year how does Lindback, Crawford and Nabokov get ranked over Fleury? Lindback was a back-up last year, Crawford certainly took a step back and Nabokov didn't really light the world on fire either. Neimi is another question mark, he didn't do so hot last year.

Thats in no particular order but for god sakes how do you have some of these guys over MAF. Have you ever seen a goalie go side to side so much? Sorry but 90% of these guys listed couldn't deal with making plays like that shift after shift.

Not seeing the advantage in doing this thread. Which teams are even shopping for goalies? Chicago won`t give up anything useful as they are going to want to add one for futures. Probably not dealing Fleury to Philadelphia and what this leaves us with is the same crap Leafs and Oilers fans always offer. So unless you are going for MacArthur or Sam Gagner here, it is probably not going to work out that well.

Relax. He is certainly not the problem for this mess. He is the least of our concerns.

Crawford ahead of Brodeaur? Stop. Crawford shouldn't be on that list.

Really don't see him being moved. I doubt he'd fetch the kind of winger or D-Man the Pens need anyway.

I don't think Fleury is being moved, I also don't think he's been that bad. The team has been playing like garbage in front of him, he may not be the goalie that can steal wins and stand on his head to help a ****** team like the Penguins right now, but he's still pretty good. I would take him over any goalie not named Quick or Rinne.

I wouldn't give up a lot for him to be honest. He shows signs of brilliance but the reality is he's not consistent enough. He could be a good buy-low option - but for a team like the Pens they shouldn't give up on him - strictly because they have no one to replace him.
