If we were then able to add Igina to the mix, we would be Cup contenders. I hope you can understand my POV.

Sure, buddy. That'll get it done.

Instead of being ignorant, make a fair counter offer, "buddy".

I would consider the offer because I am expecting the Habs to fall flat on their face and that 1st could potentially be a top 5 pick

Either way, a playoff 1st rounder, young roster player, and a good prospect not in the NHL.
I think being on a perennial loser team like the Flames is wearing on him. Its the reason why he has not signed yet, if the team is crappy by March, he gets traded IMO.

I think its a good idea, we need a rebuild and Iginla leaving will be the catalyst.

I'd take Galchenyuk and 2013 2nd from MTL for a signed Iggy.

No, way to much for a player at the end of his career. And there is always the CAP to consider.

By the way, "buddy", you obviously have really high hopes if you think the equivalent of 3 1st rounders and a prospect are not enough for a rental. The fact that you bolded Eller also shows you do not know anything about the player. I would love to have Iginla, but not if his price is higher than that.

I love "buddies" who try to be "kewl" when dismissing others' knowledge and prove their lack of same in the following comments.

I don't think Flames management will be that high on Beaulieu, the focus has been on hockey iq/sense, something Beaulieu seems to be lacking in.
I doubt he goes to jail, and he wasn't the key to the deal. He is a small, speedy forward who has no place in our organization ad could benefit from a change of scenery. He can be switched out for another, equivalent piece.

Usually, when making offers, counter offers are expected if the team receiving the initial offer feels a change would tip the scales appropriately.

I understand that there are Flames fans who do not want to trade Igina. They are being too sentimental. Gainey's biggest screw up was not getting Gomez, it was NOT trading all of his big name UFA to be players when we had the chance, and then watching them all sign elsewhere in the summer. We lost Koivu, Kovalev, Komisarek, Souray, and a bunch of others over two seasons where Gainey could have gotten us real assets for them. I hope Flames management is smarter than that. Trade your pending UFA players at the deadline, get quality assets, and then try to resign them in the summer. If not, it will simply delay the development of your organization.

So, any counter offers you think work for both sides?

you have 66 million against the cap with Thomas and Savard on the books, I wonder how you could free up space

Cap is easily fixed from Boston's side, they can send Tim Thomas' contract back the other way and put Savard on LTIR.
