IMO I would love a guy he can stop the other teams top fowards over a guy who can chip in on offense....

Also Hammer does have an underated offensive game, hes just counted on so uch defensivley that he has not pinched and chiped in as much....

He makes crisp clean passes and has a rocket of a shot..
totally agree, i think once hammer's offensive game gets more refined he'll get more points, because he does have a real good shot from the point. last year, i feel every shot he took got blocked--when he realizes how to take the right shot his pt totals will increase.

hamonic's point shot is the absolute worst part of his offensive game, he almost never puts the puck on net with a slap shot

To put in perspective how amazing his contract is, he's the only legit #1 center out of all the other comparable deals that have been signed - Hall, Eberle, Seguin (is a center, but has been primarily on the wing), Benn (converted to center from the wing), Skinner (center who has been used on the wing), etc.

It actually annoys me that he pretty much gets paid the least our of all the aforementioned names aside from Benn, but his was a post lockout contract.

That was exactly my point. Does the fact that he signed for so much less than other franchise #1 centers mean he's not a franchise #1 center? Of course not. Therefore the argument about PK's contract doesn't hold any weight either.

Really? I think that word is thrown around too easily. It's kind of becoming the new "elite" tag.

P.K. is a really good young defenseman. One that I would love to be on the Islanders. Franchise defenseman? I'm not so sure of that.

Think John Carlson type deal; 6 year 23.8 million = $3.96 mil cap hit.

5 years 19.5 to 20 mil seems like a reasonable deal.

That is just to much $$ for him.
I would go 3M per season up to maybe 3.25 for 5 years.
If he wants more $ i offer him 3 years at 3.75 Per

You don't think that the Habs are building their D around PK?

Eventually, PK will be the centerpiece of the Habs defense, but right now Markov is their best defenseman.

There was no way the Habs were going to give PK a long term deal after they made both Pacioretty and Price take short term "bridge" deals before signing their long term contracts. PK will still be a restricted free agent when this deal is up, and if he progresses as he should, I'm sure the Habs won't mind giving him the long term contract and the money.
