usually when we are struggling i see a light at the end of the tunnel.. but im not right now. i think there are some off-ice issues. pure speculation, though
What we lack is skill. Mike Fisher is our number one center.
That's a problem.
Not buying Phoenix is a more skilled team than us. There is something wrong with the character if this team. It's not solely a skill issue (though I wouldn't mind some more skill of course).
A marginally skilled, character lacking player like AK is not the answer though. We were a better team before his arrival.

I very much disagree with your second statement. AK had 12 points in 19 games. That's production. That makes the team better. If a ton of other NHL teams can have head cases and win, why can't we?

Our record speaks for itself. We were a worse team after we made all those deadline moves.
Before the trade deadline: 64.3% win percentage
After the trade deadline: 60.5% win percentage, 50% in the playoffs
One thing is for certain. We were not better. At best, we were the same.

I still think we are overreacting a bit here. We need to secure 3 points more on the roadtrip for it to be a success. 7 points in 7 games on the road I can live with. And if we get out normal early season issues out of the way that is better. Some of the interviews where the guys are talking about manning up make me feel better. Usually it is the start of some good shut down D that gives us a little confidence and we get going. Here is hoping the pattern of the last few years holds.
There was a couple shifts last game where Erat-Fisher-Wilson looked like a legitimate 1st line. If we can get more of that we may be ok. Confidence and production can be contagious. Get the first line going and it will trickle down.
Zach Boychuk on waivers. Really liked him on draft day and even made a proposal for him a couple years ago. I guess his development isn't going as planned? Want to give him a shot, but at the same time it would be a slap in the face to Mueller, Beck, Watson, and Latta who paid their dues. If he clears, I'd try hard to trade for him.

Is he good enough defensively for a bottom 6 role? Seems like a good add to me. Can't be worse than Clune or Yip. If he doesn't work out, just waive him again.

He was just waived from a team that's not been very good this year, and hasn't shown himself to be much more than a small AHL fwd. I would rather have him than Clune, but I'd rather just call up one of the three aforementioned Admirals.

I remember when he was drafted they were saying although he was short, he was supposed to be strong and stocky. Doesn't seem like he ever really filled out.
