Would Philly be interested in something along the lines of

Yandle+?

All Schenns have been highly overrated to me. but to a slow rebuilding team like Winnipeg they COULD have more value if you add a first. I'll say: Byfuglien

Kind of like the lockout this year - one side completely undercuts, and the other compensates by demanding the moon.

Eventually, you meet in the middle, like the lockout, which is why I say what I did. But one side needs to bend for that to happen.

And the truth still remains.

Weber > Read, Mez, 1st and picks
Weber < Schenn, Couturier, ++
So two unproven young players are worthmore than a Norris Trophy Dman in the prime of his career? I don't think so. Couturier and Schenn have potential to be very good players but Weber is already one of the best dmen you can get.

Pound for pound this trade is probably fairly even on both sides of the scale.

Couturier or Schenn are NHL players with unproven potential. High end, potential, however, and hold significant value. These aren't top tier prospects, they're already NHL players, with untapped potential yet.

But no player set to be traded or in a dispute has garnered that kind of return, for a reason. Because no one player is worth trading 3-4 core pieces to acquire, no matter the talent, because your team ends up worse with them as a result.

Value isn't dictated by what you think he's worth - it's dictated by what the market can pay. In this case, the market demanded was a team that can afford to give up two highly touted yet unproven NHL players, plus more - no team can afford to give up that much, regardless of pedigree. That tells me, no, he is not worth that much. If he was "worth that much," he'd be a Flyer.

Hence, he stayed.
