Am I the only one interested in Kujawinski as a pick. He's 6'2 185 lbs. High compete level, great on the dot and i read somewhere that he has a wicked wrist shot. Also plays a solid 2-way game n his stats are decent.

Nope. I'm right there with you.

He's my favourite OHL prospect after Nurse and Monahan.

This will be a great draft to walk in with two firsts and address organizational needs properly.
Good little blurb about him on on http://ohlprospects.blogspot.ca/ in an interview with former NHL scout David Burstyn.

Quote:
Hartman has had no problem adjusting to the OHL as he plays a surly game and marries it with skill. At the beginning of the year he was more focused on being a pest and was the recipient of taking unnecessary minors. Since the middle of the season after a lengthy conversation with Coach Velucci, he has barred down more on his chances and played a more offensive game. The end result was increased confidence heading into the WJC and a subsequent gold medal to accompany the gold medal he received at last year’s U18 World Championships with the U18 USNDTP. Hartman also thrived at the Top Prospect game playing with Drouin and MacKinnon, finishing his checks and even engaging in a fight with fellow OHL’er Kerby Rychel. Hartman is slightly under-sized to play his game at the NHL level and he needs to improve on his skating however he shows great will and determination and already has an impressive collection of International gold medals as he is a winner.

You have him higher than Zadorov? Is it more that you love Kujawinski or don't see Zadorov translating his game? I would be shocked of he's taken ahead of Zadorov.

A little of both.

Kujawinski is one of those guys who's been wildly inconsistent. If he finds that consistency, I could see him even being better than Monahan.

As for Zadorov, I think his game will translate, but I'm just not sure his upside is that high. He's got some good tools, but I don't think you'll get anything more than a Brayden Coburn or maybe an Adam McQuaid.

Kujawinski is very intriguing, but count me for Frederik Gauthier, if he's still around. Fingers crossed.

Pulock at 15 while Kujawinski is at 44. I would be stoked if we grabbed both of these guys.

Lazar at 25!?

If he could somehow slip into the second round, that would be spectacular.

I'm interested to see what we do with 2 2nd round picks this year as well.

Hopefully can move up with one of them at least, could be able to get some size at multiple positions.

My ideal picks depending on where we end up selecting in the first round.

1- Jones
2- Jones/Mackinnon (whichever one is unchosen)
3- Barkov
4- Barkov/Monahan
5 through 10- one of Zadorov or Gauthier
10 through 15- one of Burakowsky or Morrissey
15 through 25- one of Lazar or Zykov
25 through 30- one of Kujawinski, Hagg or De La Rose

With our seconds I would like one goalie (preferably Jarry) and a large centre or a large defenseman (depending on which of those we take with our first rounder).

I really think this is a draft where high end talent can be consistently had outside of the top ten. This is a key draft for the Oil. We have three picks in the top 60 and need to grab the correct players to fill out our roster.

Also, any thoughts on Wennberg? Hadn't heard of him before and McKenzie has him at 11. Can play all three forward positions, which would be useful for the Oilers inside the top six.

Pavel Buchnevich is not even in his top 60. That should be perfect since Oilers can draft a goalie with one of the 2nd.

dont think you actually have to move up, its a pretty deep draft...

What do you guys know about Mantha, the guy has size and seems to have a scoring touch? Has a good plus, minus also. Seems that he would be a good pick.

The draft is deep, but IMO there are going to be potential top 10 talents fall into the 16-20 range, and if that happens to a guy like Pulock I would love to trade up into that range.

The sky's the limit, but he may be limited between the ears. It appears to be a lack of motivation/drive/compete......There is no doubt that the size and skill is there.

Penner v.2.0 ?

Haven't seen him play but all the scouting reports indicate he looks invisible out there even when he scores a couple goals. That doesn't really sound like a player the Oilers need.

Monahan would be ideal as adding size is crucial. His skill set is also badly needed on this team. If we are drafting in the teens than I will be praying for Nurse to fall into our laps

Lazar has 14 assists in 52 GP this year, and only had 11 assists in 63 GP last year. That is not really the production you'd ordinarily see from a CHL F that would typically go in the top 15. How is his playmaking ability? Passing? Hockey sense?

I like Monahan, but I am not comfortable taking him over Drouin. I know we want size, but always BPA in the 1st round, and that, between those 2, is Drouin

Barkov became the yongest player to ever break 40pts in the SM-Liiga today. Breaking the record held by Olli Jokinen.
