Steve Mason to Chicago

I know Mason isn't that highly seen as he once was, but I think he would fit in well nice as 1b in Chicago.

What would it take to get him?

Bubba, there's just no need at all to even try for Mason. He wouldn't cost too much in assets but why even bother in the first place? Mason just isn't a quality NHL goalie.

He isnt even a 1k, there is nothing about him as a 1. He is BARELY an NHL backup.

If it was around free to get him, I would say give him a shot. If it cost a 5th rounder or more, no thanks.

He's the type of guy you should get an asset along with just to take him. Why CBJ continues to play them is beyond me.

so far outside of the colorado start Mason has played well, only gave up 3 goals in the other 2 games but Biased refs ignored goalie interferance on Kanes goal really should have been 2

but i dont see them trading them inside the central, because he's only 24-25 still has time to get back to his rookie season

Chicago is 6-0-0. What can we do to remedy this? I know, we can get Steve Mason!

Mason looked real solid last night too. Gave up a bit of a softie to Koivu, but also robbed us a couple of times.

I'm guessing they are showcasing him a bit to see if they can milk a bit more, scratch that, any value for him at the deadline. Or they are just going with the tandem goalie plan. Who know what's going on in the minds of Howson and Todd Richards.

Yeah, Chicago's 6 and 0. Doubt they get Steve Mason.

At 24yo, he could be considered as a quality NHL prospect.

The very real problem with him is his contract.

will he receive a qualifying offer this summer? i doubt so and he could become an UFA.

So he is a prospect that any team could lose as UFA next summer.

Chicago should get Mason, he would help. Also they should do a search warrant for Campoli and get him back...

Mason is still young enough to get through his recent struggles. As stated earlier, he is playing better this year (so far.) A change of scenery and a team of the Hawks caliber in front of him may get him turned around quicker.

give him a better D and I think he will be better. Not sure why he wouldn't be worth a gamble. He's not worse than Emery

I'd gamble on Steve Mason.. but in the off-season, not right now when he's getting 2.9M.

Cap Hit doesn't matter that much. We have enough Cap Space for this season and for next, he's a RFA.

reading this thread, I think he can be had for about next to nothing.

Do you feel bad dominating the league and want to help them catch up?

Fun aside, Mason is not even an upgrade on Crawford. Unless Columbus felt like being generous. I cannot see why Chicago bothers.

Mason would not be the starter. Crawford plays good and is fine, he's our starter and will be until he fails in the POs again. Mason would upgrade Emery.
