I'd be interested if Buffalo could snag Boychuk. We're certainly low enough in the standings.

I wonder at what point the waiver becomes based off of this season as opposed to last season?

There isn't, it's just a common misconception since that's how most fantasy leagues work.

Maybe nobody was offering a conditional pick or prospect.

If someone does claim him, then I really hope a change of scenery will make it happen for him.

I'd be surprised if he doesnt clear. He's a 5'9" guy. You generally know what you have with a smaller player quicker than big guys who are still growing into their bodies. Too many teams are right up against the same problem with waivers right now. If they claim him, they'll have to waive someone else who they're already familiar with. There are injuries however that could play a role I guess.

I hope Snow take Boychuck. If for no other reason than to troll all the other teams.

Which is more valuable, a 50% chance at keeping Boychuk or a conditional 7th? I mean, neither one is worth a lot but I think I'd rather take a shot at keeping Boychuk.

Anyway, it's kinda funny to see how much value this guy still has on the HF trade market. You'd think people would check out his NHL stats at age 23 and make the connection that he's not sticking.

Devils could claim Boychuk.

Waiving Janssen opens up a spot. Whether they plan to use it on Darche or Henrique returning remains to be seen. They could claim him and play him until Henrique gets back though.

For myself, it goes to show how shallow the Yotes forward depth is.

Trading a 4th for Lombardi was a patch, and it didn't hold water very long.

Right now guys like Chipchura, Bolduc, Nick Johnson & Biznasty are playing pretty regularly for Phoenix. Torres will come back in two games from suspension, but another injury/suspension would leave us calling up Miele or Kinkhammer.

Boychuk's probably on par with most of those guys, while being younger.

waiver order reset (from last year's standings to current year's standings) normally happens on November 1st.

I havnt seen anything stipulating when that happens this year, but i would not be surprised if it was February 1st this year.

I wish the Canucks would pick up Boychuk. He doesn't fit, but at least nobody else would pick him up!

I believe at this point it still goes by last year's standings.

I was actually thinking the same thing after I posted. Normally the reset is on November 1st every year, but I haven't heard anything pertaining to this shortened season and just weeks in I doubt order has been reset yet.

Hoping the Rangers could snag Boychuk for a little more depth. At worst, he ends up in Hartford.

Low risk, medium reward kind of pickup.

All 3 are good finds, low-risk and worth it.

Isn't waiver ranking based on last season still? Which would put the Canucks 30th... so it's either Vancouver or Minors. Not stopping anyone from getting him.

I'm not an expert on waivers, but if the Rangers were to claim him and try to send him to Hartford, doesn't Carolina get a first crack and claiming him back and can send him to Charlotte without additional waivers? Based on what Rutherford said, I think the team still wants Boychuk, just wants to have him get some playing time in Charlotte rather than sit the press box.

Still, your point is valid that it's low risk.
