Terrible. Not even anywhere close to worth Vanek, and you want Buffalo to pick up part of the cap hit?
Yes, let's trade our only legit 1st liners, top pairing dman and #1 goalie. I'm sure it will be easy to sign players of their caliber in FA, just like how it worked this off season, we got Jon Scott and Kevin Porter, two of the most sought after UFAs this past off season
We wouldnt want to sign top caliber UFAS for a few years, tank edmonton style, develop a winner, and the UFAs will come
Wow...Sabres fans are extremely impatient. They must not be Buffalo Bills fans. Sabres do not need to be blown up. If we miss playoffs this year...What else did you expect with this young lineup? Next year we most likely get Armia/Girgensons/Pysyk/McNabb all coming up into the lineup. We will trade some assets at the deadline to make room for these players. Maybe sign a decent FA over summer and buy out Leino. We will be right back into playoff contention. Be more patient please, and stop making us look bad with all these ridiculous threads. ^_^

Didn't even say we had to rebuild its just an option. Just seeing what people would give up. Calm down
I don't see why Buffalo needs to rebuild. Re-tweek perhaps. They still have a solid team and were considered favourites when they acquired ehrhoff and regher last year. The pieces they put together just didn't click as well as they wanted.
imo the only team that thinks twice about it is Vancouver
Think twice? Vancouver doesn't need to think twice to decline that. We're not trading our future franchise goalie, the power forward we've lacked since Bertuzzi and a 1st in a deep draft for 1.5 years of Kessel, especially considering the implications his salary would have on our roster. It's an easy no for the Canucks.
I do agree I think they need a major trade to shake up the locker room. In Any proposals Buffalo would not trade one of the core star players to a division rival.
Sure trades can happen but to move Vanek or Pommenville they would need to be wowed. Both are in walk years next season. With them it could easily turn into Perry/Getzlaf situation in anaheim.
The players I see definitely beeing traded this season: Leopold and one of: Breennen, Weber, Sekera, McCormick, and Gerbe that is not a blockbuster type of deal.
in terms of a blockbuster deal Miller, Myers, Vanek, and Pommenville would be available. Like with all blockbusters this isnt a give away.
Ennis and Hodgson arent moving unless its a veteran Center coming back. One likely traded in the offseason if Buffalo picks up someone like Getzlaf who is more than a short rental.
Foilgnio, Arina, and Grigorenko are not going anywhere in any trade.
They have a strong group of Dmen in the pipeline in McNabb, Pysak, and McCabe.
Sabres fans correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read about the Sabres owner, he won't want a big rebuild. He thinks his core is ready to make some noise in the postseason.
Hmmm... this is the team that were self-proclaimed stanley cup contenders a year ago?
Seriously, I think people need to realize that teams can't just do quick rebuilds by shelling out their whole team and expect high end young blue chip players in return.
No one is going to trade guys like that because they are cheap, they can be controlled for at least 7+ years, will last far longer and have untapped potential.
Draft them or get lucky in UFA with some youngerish superstars.
I see elite level offense on the top line, the rest is not impressive at all.

When did the Sabres ever proclaim themselves to be cup contenders?
Anyways, as many have said, they're in the midst of a mini-rebuild of sorts now. With Hodgson, Ennis and Grigorenko developing, they'll be back in playoff contention within the next couple of years.
