Giroux vs. Tavares

Who would you take now and in the future?

Tavares has 8 points in 6 games, while leading the Islanders past Pittsburgh, Tampa, and Toronto. Currently ranks 12th in the league in points.

Giroux has 4 points in 7 games, and ranks.. well, let's not get at where he ranks. Still early.

Ranks, points, all the other stuff aside right now, which player are you taking on your team now and in the future?

Tavares rather easily, he is 3 years younger on a worse team and is producing around the same level as Giroux.

Giroux had 93 points last year.. not close.

Also no slight to Tavares but shouldnt be ignored that Giroux 55 points in 50 games in the playoffs, the guys a monster in the post season.

Giroux had 93 points last year Tavares had 81 all be it in 4 more games that isn't that far off not to mention when Giroux was 21 he had 27 points in 47 games.

Tavares. Not close for me. JT produces at a relativly similar rate as Giroux, but on a way worse team. + JT is one of my favorite player

Before we get into "Tavares AINECZOMGBBQ!!!!111!!one!! cause Tavares plays for a terrible team"....

Matt Moulson is easily a better goal scorer than Scott Hartnell. PA Parenteau produced more than anyone on Grioux's RW last year. I don't see where team comes into play.

There's more to it than just that. Last year the flyers had lots of depth to their offense. A lot of depth can tire an opposing team pretty quickly. For example, take the Pens. Crosby is on line 1 and Malkin is on line 2. If an opposing team wants to shutdown Crosby, they put their top defensive forwards and dmen against him. The problem is that now by the time Malkin gets on your top defensive players are tired and it gives the Pens a chance to score. Basically the flyers were a deep team last year and Giroux benefited from it.

Tavares, but you really can't go wrong with either of them. Would kill to get either on the Stars.

Eriksson - Tavares/Giroux - Benn

is just filthy.

Right because Jagr wasn't on his line

Jagr only had 53 points last year. Respectable, but far from what he used to be and 14 less points than PA Parenteau had.

John Tavares had better linemates last year. He put up less points in more games with better linemates. Not much more needs to be said.

Put Tavares on a good team and he'd be a top 5 player easily.

Giroux is arguably already a top 5 player.

I think Johnny T is something special, I love Giroux as well. For me there is just something about Tavares though, I wish the Islanders all the best!

The Flyers also play a wide open style offense and have suffered from some underwhelming goaltending. Stats dont tell the entire story.
