I don't understand how this hasn't been done yet, surely at this point since Subban basically got whipped and took a fair deal with the Habs (probably less than he should have got) that ROR would take the fair deal and move on and play NHL hockey.
I don't think the Avs should or will just collapse and overpay the hell out of him due to the injuries and bad PK lately.. though he has to know he'd improve this team dramatically as soon as he signed.. so it's a tough situation.
In the end it's a billionaire paying a millionaire and the fans are losing out, remind you of something that just ended? It sucks.
I think it's become clear he doesn't want to play here. It sucks for a couple of reasons, one he obviously won't be an av anymore and it forces the avs to keep the golden boy Stastny.
Does anyone know where I can find a full copy of the new CBA? I'm not sure if it's completely finalized yet, but it'd be nice to have a copy again.
There's nothing published on the web, which is why I don't think Dater knows what he is talking about. Just completely irresponsible reporting on his part to get everyone worked up. We have a #*$((@ idiot as a beat writer in this city.

Seeing how sad this makes you makes me happier than the fact that we might have to keep Stastny.
I think we need to take our own advice here. Several posters have said that he shouldn't be sulking or taking things personal because this is only "business"
We need that perspective. This isn't personal, it's business. From everything we can gather, it seems that Ryan loves his teammates, loves the city, but is just enbroiled in a business negotiation.
It's not personal, so why are we making it personal?
My apologies didn't see it - I havent been able to spend very much time on here lately.
Anyways, I think all the cards are held by the Colorado Avalanche here. If the Sherminator signs this kid to a $4M/year deal for 3 years, we'll be kissing the ground Sherm walks on rather than throwing him under the bus.
Hell, if anything this whole episode assures me that we won't be extending Paul Stastny at $6.5M/per, which makes me happy.

That's not true.
Ryan O'Reilly loves the city, the fans, his teammates, and his coaches.
The issues that him and his agent have with people in suits(that cost more than $300, so no Sacco) hasn't changed that.
He will not sign an offer sheet, and thus far, the Avs are not open to trading him at all.
